Yes, this a commom mains voltage connector.

(The third most common mains connector over here.)

If the male end is connected fixed to the power supply, the enlarger head thus having a female connector, there should not be a chance to feed mains voltage into the enlarger head.

Even then I doubt that such is the original connector set-up.

Otherwise, the halogen bulb arrived. I have checked the 10 A fuse and it looks fine. Tried the new halogen bulb (been trying to clean the ceramic contacts by taking the old bulb in and out a few times just to be sure). And still nothing. I guess we can assume that the transformer is dead, or worse it is dead AND the enlarger head is fried too.

As already hinted at, before making assumptions, have the shebang metered, best by an electrician.

You better not play with a weird, homemade power supply.

Most likely, the head is fine, and your problem is confined to the power supply.
12v is a very common target voltage for quite a number of devices the world over. Any sort of shop that repairs electronics should be able to fix things up for you.

At the moment I am sourcing another transformer, I'd rather set up the darkroom and make prints, actually.

This transformer might be a good replacement for that entire power supply: http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1...6.1514283126.1564204428-1485376122.1564204428

Since the manufacturer is German, it might be easy to find a distributor near you. Price in the USA is quite reasonable.

I have been able to source the Block ST 100/23/12 transformer mentioned above but I have to figure out what sort of enclosure/box (or whatever it might be called) the transformer has to be in, but my german language skills only stretch so far ...

Thanks all of you for your time and efforts to help me out!

I have ordered a Block ST transformer and I am looking into box options at the moment.

The Block transformer is still on the work bench. Vacations and life in general got in the way. Meanwhile I happened to win an auction for another enlarger head that is supposedly working, together with a transformer. Good thing is that I get another negative holder (24x36) and this head has the fine focus knob.
