A few months ago I found a Rolleiflex SL35 (made in Germany) with a Distagon 2.8/35 in an antique shop near my office so I decided to buy it on impulse. It cost me 35 bucks and when I see it it reminds me of its price marked on the front with its now worn white paint. I said on impulse, but actually I must also admit that I am haunted by a dark desire to have a working Planar without costing me a fortune. I figured after I CLAed the camera my next step would be to look for the decent 1.8/ 50mm Planar (which this camera traditionally comes with) but if my math isn't so off between the CLA and the standalone lens the cost will come relative close to a functional new/old camera with a Planar included. Ok wait, I already know that I´m lying to myself here because of G.A.S. so anyways ...
So, what would be my (less than 500 bucks) options to consider?
p.s. An eccentric, but wonderful option, would be the Contarex Bullseye, but the risk of everything going wrong is more than imminent in this case.
Count me among the sceptics as to whether a Zeiss planar is noticeably better than other 50mm lenses. But I think the 50 1.7 Planar for C/Y is not too expensive.
def yes ! , this is my first option although I was looking other (probably older) cameras which system include the Planar as the stelar lens. BTW, I have to say, that I really appreciate what you are doing with this SL35 (here below) because I haven´t those smart fingers like yours, so then this info gonna be pretty useful with the person who checks mine
For years I have wanted a German construction SL35. I have plenty of the Singapore and German Electronic Rolleiflex cameras but no mechanical German 35mm Rolleiflex. What I was hoping to find was something nice to hold in the hand, with precision controls and a high quality feel. Essentially a...
