LODIMA PAPER LONGEVITY

For those of you out there using Lodima (or Lupex) for contact printing. Afer a Covid year or so of not doing any new work - finally back in the darkrrom printing again-the Lodima G2 I acquired in 2016 performs brilliantly. Fast (like the older Azo) - needs only 1 minute development in Ansco 130. It had been stored in a freezer for 4 of those years.

Silver chloride paper should last longer than the standard bromide stuff. I've had some Lodima on the shelf for a few years, and am looking forward to experimenting with it.

Are you using an Amidol developer?

I have a couple of boxes of Lodima G2 and G3, both from the first production run, that have been in my freezer for many years; no issues the last time I used them. I've, also, had a couple of boxes of Adox Lupex stashed in the freezer for several years and that paper is fine, too.

Both Azo & Lodima last very well. I've used decades-old Azo that was stored at room temperature. Both print like a charm.

Expired 1946...Still good. I bought off Ebay just to see.

I guess the key to Lodima silver chloride paper lasting is to keep it frozen. My stash of it from the original and second run that was kept in a cool basement all fogged horribly to the point where I just tossed it. Broke my heart. Fortunately, I have a good stash left of original Azo.
