Drew,
There is the Western New England LF Photogray Group, but has members from all around New England and is pretty much an open membership. PM me and I'll send you some info if you are interested.

Hi Gene,
Sorry to hear you've been under the weather and sorry to hear about your dad, I wish you both good health and better days ahead!
Regarding our get together, I guess I'd prefer Dec. 3rd, but I can make it either day.
Cheers, Krystyna

I'm also interested in meeting up after Thanksgiving....

A little off-topic... Bill Hahn and I are going to the Quabbin this Sunday. I plan on being at the Visitor's Center at 10:30 am. If any one else is interested, you are more than welcome. I know that the water level will be rather high, near or at capacity, but it should still be a fun time.

Back on topic... I am think that Sat Dec 3rd would be best. We can have breakfast at Gus & Paul's and then head back into the gallery.
Whatcha thinks?

gene

Excellent, December 3rd, I'll be there, if you tell me where G & P's is, and what time for breakfast? Cheers, Krystyna

Ya, tell us where G&P's is and what time. I hope it isn't tooooo early as I would be coming from the cape. What equipment should be bring....all of it?

Drew

Gus & Paul's is in the same complex as the Valley Photo Center; Tower Square.
If those of you who are planning to come to Springfield on Dec 3rd could PM me your snail-mail address, I'll send you directions on how to get here (real easy!!) and where to park - there is no need to park in the parking garage when on-street parking is FREE.
I didn't figure on a photo outing, but the Springfield Armory/Springfield Tech Comm College might be a good place in the afternoon, or morning and then back to the VPC. I will get info on us wandering around there with cameras - my daughter plays soccer for STCC.
Keep an eye on this thread for more info.

Gene and Bill Hahn, I would love to join you this weekend, but had other plans for the weekend already. Maybe I'll meet up with you and other NEAPUGer the weekend of Dec 3/Dec 4.
Regards,

- Phong

Gene and I had a nice outing...

...on a somewhat miserable day. I am convinced the Quabbin has a lifetime supply of photographic opportunities, and plan to go back. There are plenty of highly textured tree stumps and eroded rocks for us texture freaks, and
large-scale land across the water for the landcape people. I brought four lenses for my MF camera, and wound up using them all!

Unfortunately the water level was high after the recent rains - but I could see a green rock just under the surface about 10 yards out - it was almost lumenescent, becoming more and less bright with the wave action.

Thanks Gene, for introducing me to the Quabbin....

Thanks Gene, for introducing me to the Quabbin....

No problem, 'twas my pleasure (except for the blister on my right heel from those new boots! )

I think we (all those attending) who meet in Dec, should bring a print to swap, lets say an 8x10, or any size like that. I usually make prints that are unusual sizes and shapes. If we want someone to critique (sp?) our work, bring that along too. what do you think?

Hi all!
I'm game for this. You don't know me yet because I'm relatively new to APUG but at Whitey's urging I'm moving beyond the lurking stage. I'm up in Charlemont every weekend and in Cambridge M-F. The weekend of the 3rd looks good for us to venture to Springfield. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hello Lizz! is this meaning : IBBY = I'l Be Blasting You (from the Major Mudd Show)?

Welcome to APUG and I hope to see you at the get together

It is from Major Mudd! You're quick. I've been using this on another forum for over a year and no one's gotten it yet.

See you in a month.

Dec 3

So exactly at what time are we meeting on Dec 3??
Peter

My plan is to meet at the Valley Photo Center at 10:00 am - wander over to Gus & Paul's (about 200' from the Center!!) and have breakfast; then back to the Center about 11:00 am. How does this sound to everyone?
And for those just deciding to attend, please PM me your snail-mail (US Postal) address so I can send you a map. I will post general directions here at a later date. The map will have places to park that are free (and around the corner from the Center) so you don't have to park in the garage and end up paying through the nose. And if you got a nose like mine, you'll go broke!!
I am hoping for a good turn out to try and get a casual plan for other get togethers and photo-taking outings.
Thanks to all for your interest.

gene

Looking forward to it, Gene. How about you send those directions along with the print exchange print to me?? Or if you give the address for VPC, I'll map quest it. Thanks for organizing!

Well, it's been a very hectic last few days trying to set up the current exhibit at the VPC <as I shake my head in disbelief over so much... I'll be quiet> with another couple of evenings work to finish hanging the exhibit, and spending the weekend in Herkimer, NY watching my daughter's community college soccer team win the NJCAA Div III National Championship <proud dad juz gotta boast :D >
I will try and get maps out by the end of the week - these are for finding free parking near the VPC. You can get general directions from any on-line map search to 1500 Main St Springfield, MA 01115.
As I said above, we'll meet at the VPC at 10:00am, wander over to Gus & Paul's for a quick breakfast and then back to the VPC. If any of you want to get there a little earlier, I'll be there about 9:30 am.
I hope we have a decent turn out for this. There are quite a few APUG'ers here in New England. It would be really great to get together on a somewhat regular basis.
If you have any questions, please PM me.
Thanks

Just wanted to bump this, and point out that Gene's directions arrived in my snail mail today....looking forward to seeing you all.

I will be bringing a copy of Christopher Grey's book "Master Lighting Guide for portrait photographers" which I will be giving away. If more than
one person wants it, I suppose we'll have to pull straws, draw lots or find some other random fair way to figure out who gets it.

Of course there is the possibliity that noone will want it!

Cheers,
Bill H.

I'm still waiting for my directions... but anyways, does anyone have a number of who will be attending? Should we bring prints for each person to have?

drew

Drew,

>Should we bring prints for each person to have?

I don't think things are as formal as that (but it's Gene's party). (Just went back to read Gene's original post at the beginning of the thread.) By all means bring prints to show your work.

Since I'm a darkroom novice, and not a very good photographer, I probably won't
bring any prints at all. But hey! I'm giving away a book on lighting!

Cheers,Bill
