Could it be that all the anger over Leicas stems from the fact that the Leica M series is a well built camera with a combination of features that some are willing to pay more money than YOU to obtain it and YOU feel left out? There are many fine cameras that cost more than I wish to spend, but that does not make me angry at the cameras nor their owners. They are free to spend their money as they choose. The problem may well be wholly with those anti Leica posts here with themself. Time to look into the mirror and think.

I got offended by "Average Joe's pictures of dogs" because this is aimed directly at my timeless masterpieces that will probably be appreciated only after my death. But I also laughed at "spicy soups"!

I am conflicted now. I guess those two reactions cancel each other out?

As I already mentioned it is not about bad or better. It is about specific use.
I do dog and all kind of food photos all the time. Leica M sucks for it. Dog we have now is not keen to camera pointed at her.

It would be worse if the dog would only let her picture be taken if you used a Leica :D.

Beautiful chocolate Lab (and photograph). What is it looking at? Someone cooking spicy soups?

Our lab does not like getting her picture taken with digital cameras. Actually, at least with FujiX auto-focus lenses (maybe makes an ultrasonic sound and it disturbs her). With manual focusing lenses it is no problem (which practically usually means a film camera, but not a Leica, for me).

I enjoyed the video for what it is, poking fun at snobbery whether it be cameras, cars, sneakers, clothes, etc. and even opinions of which there are a few in this thread.
Much ado about nothing...

@Ko.Fe. Seems like your dog doesn't know how to dog! That's a training oversight, my friend. Hate to be dogbragging, but my dog actually knows what "take a photo" and "freeze" commands mean. He waits for the shutter sound to "unfreeze". Modeling is hard work! He recognizes the Hasselblad, the Leica and the glorious Mamiya C330 but pays no respect to smartphones, a proper analog dog should. Thank you, @markjwyatt

Our dog is family member, not a bear on the stool at the circus. Not all of my family members are keen on camera. Not only dog. And in my family we are not training family members for it.

This crowd is pretty tame. You should read what some of the anuses over at Dpreview write about Leica. You can imagine them spurting in indignation, jealousy, and insecurity.

What? They FINALLY have a digital, but no image stabilization? No autofocus? No LCD screen? Are you kidding me! Some of them are ONLY monochrome, OMG!

Which explains why I am here and not there. It is easy to spurt in indignation, jealousy, and insecurity when one knows little or nothing. This website provides information and answers for hard to find information.

Mine are fussy. They refuse to have their pic taken with a Leica (too many cat shots apparently) but love to pose for my Nikon S2

Couldn't resist posing for me after a dip in the lake..

I suppose you could compare camera handling with driving a car? Both a Trabant and an Aston Martin will get you from A to B, but an Aston is a nicer car to drive.

I have no idea what a Trabant is, but I agree. The Leica is a nicer camera than most. It fits the hand like a glove, and the sound of the shutter is to die for. However, an average Joe shooting a Leica is still going to get average Joe photos. On the other hand, there is no experience quite like making average Joe photos with a Leica. Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive. Still, you are going to have to explain to your wife why you bought an expensive camera to make average Joe photos. My advice is to tell her how much money you saved by not getting the version with the ping pong paddle covering.
