I had an M2R and used it professionally. I liked it. The best? No. There is no best. Who has the best spouse, the best hound dog? Pain in the neck to reload. Lousy with anything over 90mm. Lenses were too expensive.

Kidding! Some minor aspect of the M3 I think make most feel the M3 is slightly better at least in build quality of some features. But overall I think either are contenders in the best 35mm RF category otherwise it's horses for courses....

The Leica M2 cannot be used with telephotos that are longer than 135mm which eliminates many opportunities in sports, nature and wildlife photography. How can a camera be great when its design is inherently limited?

I have an old black Nikkormat FTn. Paid $27 for it, shipped, with an H 50 2 lens. It's the best camera I've ever owned, and I've pretty much owned 'em all. Couldn't tell you why it's so good. It just goes about it's job so effortlessly and delivers stunning images.
