Short version: Is it valid to assume Kodak's recommended times for Xtol at 1+1 will also be approximately correct for Legacy Pro EcoPro at 1+1? (EcoPro is an ascorbic acid based developer, similar to Xtol.)
---
Legacy Pro gives development times for undiluted EcoPro <here> but does not give any times for EcoPro diluted 1+1. (or if they do, I can't find it)

Looking at Kodak's recommendations for Xtol <here> the times for undiluted Xtol seem to match the undiluted EcoPro times.

Looking at the Massive Development chart (MDC) for EcoPro at 1+1 for Kodak T-Max 400 (at EI 400) <here>, I see 9:15 at 20*C. And that is the same time Kodak gives for Xtol at 1+1.

But when I look up Ilford Delta 400 and EcoPro on the MDC <link>, it is showing 11:30 for EI 400, 1+1, 20*C - which is a full minute more than what Kodak is showing for that film in Xtol at 1+1.

Looking at the Freestyle chart <here> for Ilford Delta 400 and the EcoPro developer at 1+1, it shows the same 10:30 as does the Kodak Xtol chart. So that makes 10:30 the best two out of three, with the MDC being the odd man out.

I plan to try out several different films in EcoPro at 1+1, so if I can trust Kodak's times for Xtol at 1+1 it will save me the time of trying to find consensus among the various online resources. Obviously, these factory recommended times are only a starting point subject to testing and revision, but one must start somewhere.

Thank you.

Anecdotally, years ago in college, our darkroom switched from a D76 variant to the EcoPro/Xtol clone, and just told everyone to base their times on Kodak's times for Xtol. Never heard any complaints about times being off or different. Personally, I think it would be safe to assume EcoPro will behave close enough the starting points for Xtol that I'd just go off what Kodak suggests. When I've used Ecopro (due to Xtol unavailability), the Kodak times work for me.

What you're seeing on the MDC is also a good reminder that the data there is generally user sourced/submitted, and is subject to what the person submitting it thinks; there are some downright whacky times listed.
