The pre war wolly goes in front of the post war schneider, if you have a post war wolly it goes between the cells of the schneider, and if you have a pre war schneider you need to run it through the blender to get that dreamy look. I usually set the blender on frappe, I get that nice 50s glow. This is all moot if you don't know how to load the film packs into your cell. Is it a slider? or open face?

contacted a machinist and they might take on my project
but i have a feeling it won't work unless i do something outlandish too
its not enough to mate 4 different lens cells that dont go together
but even the machinist was doubtful it would have any bearing on
the grain, or texture or contrast of my 8x10 film and making it
more like cheap 35mm ...
i live near an airport, maybe i will ask them to xray my film a few times
its only a few hundred dollars a box

he asked if i wanted to go amorphic
i guess he wanted to adjust my cells
or something radical, not sure what i will do now
that he is asking serious questions ..

If you X-ray your X-ray film it becomes invisible. That way you can load it in daylight, but you have to close your eyes to see it. Has a great look when viewed through a looking glass.

I don't know why I can't resist a straight answer...

Get Paterson Texture Screen set #1. Put the "Reticulated Grain" negative in a slide mount and project it on your subject.

Shoot, Develop and Print normally.

patterson texture screen will make my reduced and enlarged my images ( 8x10, 11x14, 5x7, 4x5 negs )look like
minox film!
i think im all in,
but how do i remove the screen from my patterson tanks, they are really small, do i have to enlarge them too ?

==

thanks whitey,

im getting a cup of coffee to DRINK in about 10 mins ...

===

i was speaking the butcher at the local market
who has been shooting LF for decades
and when i told him of my problem ...
he told me that in the old days
he would put ground beef and pork in his developer and let it sit overnight
scoop it out, and process his film in that, ... has anyone done this?
i don't eat meat anymore, only textured vegetable protein and tofu
will these work as well?

The problem with grain the size of golf balls is if you take a picture of a golf ball it will get lost in the grain.

I once hit a golf ball into a field of barley and it got lost in the grain, and the grain wasn't even the same size.

I advise against stand developing in the refrigerator. It's hard to stand in one unless you are quite short or the fridge is quite big, and you will get very cold unless it's not plugged in. And doing it overnight is impossible because there isn't enough air in there unless you leave the door open.

I'm still lost regarding the dark cloth. What does barley have to do with it? You're supposed to make beer and barley wine out of it, not shoot golf balls into it. Silly.

Thomas, you're not paying attention... that's where the Canadian Clubs come in. Sheesh!

Nonetheless, it's quite obvious that I have been doing everything all wrong. That's depressing. I'm going to go sit in my kayak and wait for the ice to melt.

I always thought of you as an Akvavit man!

That's true, but I know a bit about barley too, not just infused potato liquor...
Do you offer any insight on the dark cloth?

And golf balls.

Do we really have to go over the crucial importance of viewing distance again? I find that nothing less than 1/2 a city block is essential. What was it that guy said? "if your work sucks you're standing too close". Something like that.

By staying off topic we're on topic?

I like shrimp.

I think just about here someone will tell you to go read some book, so go read some book. I think the phone book is pretty good. Lots of characters in there.
