Texas group

Scooter,
Great idea. Especially the group part. Consider putting the logo on black T shirts. Somebody once told me that black is thinning and I would bet there are a few Texans that could use that. Not me, of course, but you would be providing a service.\

scooter,

excellent idea! i'm up in DFW and love the idea. any big film shooters in the area that want to get together can email me at scott at srosenberg dot com.

Scott, we're actually getting together this Friday to do some shooting and unless my guesstimate is wrong there will be at least 4 large format shooters there (maybe more). Send a PM to David Brown for more info. Would love to meet another DFWer!

My shirt shipped yesterday from cafe press so it won't be here in time for the trip on Friday, but don't think I won't be sporting it while I'm in Japan!

Jeremy, add me to the list of LF shooters friday. I'll bring a 6x6 folder as well, but I plan on putting those plate holders I got from you to good use. Me thinks that 10 sheets will keep me plenty busy, no? :D

pm sent.

i have to work friday, but hopefully will be able to make it for at least a little while.

I'll have to get me one of those!
Very cool indeed.
And you got me to post after lurking for so long
Nice to see fellow LFers in this great state of ours.

Scott

I got a card someplace (haven't seen it for years) that annoints me as an Honorary Texan (never figured out what the Honor part was about. I like the new style logo  . May have to get one of them one of these days to wear around the place.

So has there been any organization around getting together a TX LF shoot? I went out to shoot LF with another Texan I met over on the LF photo forum (we visited and photographed a painted church in Plantersville, TX 2 weeks ago) and we have several other places in mind, including 2 more painted churches, but he is the first LF shooter I have met in person since returning to TX two years ago. I think that both he and I would benefit from spending some quality time working with some LF shooters who have a little more experience than we do (...I think about 3-4 years total between the 2 of us...). I know I would; I'm a very visual learner.

Grinning. I would be "the other Texan." That would be 3-4 years experience between the one of you. I am a know nothing Rookie! for sure. Shucks, I don't know much about 35mm or medium format either. However, I reckon osmosis works and the good company counts for a lot. So, Large Format Texans Unite!

Going to St. Mary's Church with a kindred soul was very nice. If anyone else in the Greater Houston area wants to join us, "Come on down!"

I'm afraid I'm up in Austin, so Houston is more than a little out of the way. I started with the large format about a year ago (end of November...)

There's good stuff around Austin, though.

Palmetto State Park, Enchanted Rock and Pedernales Falls State Park are all in the area.

The only time I've seen someone else shooting large format it was in the parking lot of the lodge at Big Bend.
