Whoa. As I've watched my hoarded bricks of E100GX dwindle from the film fridge, I have wondered what to do. Looks like some hoarded bricks of E100 are going in there soon!

with the recent post here on apug about problems with COLOR film stock / bleeding #s/words into the film base ... it made me wonder
the previous problems with bad ink / bleed into base issues were with b/w film ... i wasn't sure if it was a "now"/new issue or something old

or would I be better starting one on how quickly there'll be a thread on APUG demanding they reintroduce *o*a*h*o*e seeing as how "easy" it is for them to have restarted Ektachrome ... ?

While you're at it... how about mention a reintroduction of +X or Super2X. Thank you for your consideration!

The thing i'm fearing is the retail price of this, Fuji E6 film is priced outside any realm of realism. Lets see how Alaris goes....

I wouldn't have believed this if I hadn't a) read it here, and b) saw it with my own eyes on the Kodak Alaris website. I'll have to get a few rolls of this once it's released.

I've heard from reliable sources that single 36exp rolls will be available in the US for 8.23 Quatloos.

Regarding Kodak manufacturing E6 chemicals, they have said that along with the introduction of their new super 8 camera that they will sell super 8 film with a pre-paid processing mailer. Therefore, it seems reasonable to speculate E6 chemicals might be made available to labs (or perhaps even kits for home users, if there is a distinction between the two in today's market), since they are already going to the bother of making it. This of course presupposes that their venture back into E6 is convincingly profitable. I daresay, let's make it decisive!

Edit: as Matt notes above, it would be tetenal who makes it, but I think the basic
point stands.

I say, "bring it on"! I love slides projected on a big screen. So much better than anything with a digital projector or TV screen. Id they're going to bring back Super-8, I'd like to have Double-8 too. I miss using my Bolex H8. Probably won't happen.

You and me buddy. Plus-X was one of my favorite films. Sure it wasn't as sexy as saying Tri-X or as modern as Tmax but it never did me any wrong. Black blacks and white whites with a smooth gradient.

I have a few rolls of Ektachrome in my freezer, I guess I'll be shooting that this summer. I need enough shot to justify a kit and then I'm good to go.

Amazing news.

I have been using Provia 100f the past couple of years, nice to have an alternative but as I never used Ektachrome 100 VS or G or anything in the past I don't know how this will compare.

135 and super 8 motion picture....the latter to be handled by Eastman Kodak and the former by Kodak Alaris.

I can dig that. E100D was beautiful stuff in both formats. I'll be buying in super 8 for sure...possibly 135.

This is the motivating factor - Eastman Kodak sees a market for positive (rather than negative) cine film - both Super 8 and 135.

7285 (the last Ektachrome Movie film) was tweaked version of the E100 slide film. (suspect that the back coating had slightly more lubrication) so if they are to offer an Ektachrome stock it is likely the same stock would be sold in both super 8 and still 35mm.

presumably offering in 16mm would also be possible.

reversal film other than 16 and 8mm in movies is only used as a way to scan digitaly, so I am not sure of the demand in 35mm MP film.

Not to be a "wet blanket" but one has to wonder -- given that the availability of E6 processing has been plummeting over the years, will this work? I know I have pretty much given up on color film as getting it processed takes too long and costs a lot, especially transparencies. The last roll of 120 Fuji I had done took me three weeks to get back from a small local chain that does it in house but apparently waits until they have a pile to do. I understand that thinking, but I found it discouraging.

None the less, if they are seeing the sales potential to make the move, hey -- go for it!

I sent film to Denver DigitalImaging Center http://www.theslideprinter.com/ and got it back pretty quick.
