OK I did the film speed that you suggested @ ISO 125 with the yellow filter and quite pleased with the results. I developed the film in Pyrocat HD 1-1-75. Camera was EOS 3 with an 85 f1.8 USM

After succumbing to the bulk loader thread and ending up with two (one was free) the question was what to load it with. During the summer of 2020, I would venture in to downtown Portland with the M4 for a few photos of the previous nights antics. For a few weeks the film was Photo Warehouse pre-rolled cassettes of Double X and looking ay those now, I found I was liking the look more than the T-Max I have been using. Now The Alden is now loaded with 5222 and a pile of snap caps at hand.

Even though it's a bit more expensive, FPP ships thier 5222 on a core. I have a couple of 2" cores for respooling the film from Photo Warehouse.

For anybody that wants to buy single 35mm 24exp rolls, I found a place that sells them for $5 (here: https://www.needfilmdeveloped.com/the-lab/p/eastman-double-x-200), way cheaper than what cinestill & most other places are selling it for.

I used it once but didn't get all that great results. Lots of grain as I recall but probably used the wrong developer. Ha, ha, I don't do powders. Lots of people like it though, and you can get it in 400' bulk rolls!!!

Can’t believe it’s over a year since I picked up five rolls of Double-X. I also got a few rolls of 120 when it came out. It’s got a beautiful grain that looks good on objects of nature, wood, hair.

For that beautiful grain I would go out of my way. But the difference is subtle and probably would not make me dedicate my life to it.

There are a lot of things I like about TMAX-100 and TMY2 that are hard hurdles. I am accustomed to the spectral response of TMY2 which makes me comfortable dropping the yellow filter (I use yellow filter on 35mm Double-X but this shot was with no filter). I also like TMY2 anti-halation. And the long straight line response of TMY2.

But those things I like wouldn’t drag me away from this grain, if I were starting over. I would give Double-X serious consideration as a grab and go film.

I found Double-X works well in Df96 monobath. I need to get a few rolls in 120, and a bulk roll in 35 mm (because the film is the same, but it's less than half the price to roll my own).

BWXX, EI 400, Cinestill Df96, Kiev 4, Jupiter 8.

Second Exposure. I yelled out " ONE TWO THREE" and got it just right this time Difficult to catch at the "decisive moment". SRT with mirror lockup engaged, 21mm Rokkor QH Eastman XX 5222 Minolta Yellow filter D23 1:1 This lens has replaced my 19mm Canon RF lens. I think I like it just as well.
