If you look at the last page of the Kodak patent in PDF format, it gives a statement by EK that the patent is abandoned and free to use by anyone. This, IMHO, was an effort by EK to encourage others to use Kodachrome and CD6.

Ok, after tossing out all of my chemistry and starting over I'm back on track... I dunno what was wrong but I'm no longer having only magenta developing. I took the PH up to 10.5, which has resulted in a TON more saturation and contrast as well as apparently increasing the film speed, as I shot this roll at ISO50 like I had all my other tests and this roll is somewhat over-exposed.

The top shots are before PH changes, bottom are after. Color balance of the IMAGE is wrong for both, the color balance of the actual slides is pretty spot on with both.

You have practically no yellow. A color chart would help prove this. You need more yellow development somehow.

Its still low in yellow, but there's more than that snap makes it look and a lot more than it DID have. I'll take some color chart shots here shortly and see how we look.

I did a color adjustment of your image by adding a LOT of yellow and it looks much better. I'm pretty sure that is the answer.

Looks like the saturation has increased on both cyan and magenta, which is great.

Once you sort out yellow, you will be very close to good results!

Yeah, looking at it with a loupe its looking pretty close to proper if I can get yellow up.

Agree 100% Good luck! I took Organic waaaayyyy back in undergrad and this is far more advanced than I ever got!

LOL, it was back in the 1970s when I took Organic and I only remember fleeting bits and pieces, all qualitative, having never really used it. I can remember that thiols and mercaptans stink, alkanes make your car go, and alkyl nitrites (among other things) will give you a good buzz. You probably have a better working knowledge of it than I ever had.

Again, I'm following your progress and cheering you on from the bleechers!

I daresay every kid who went to college during the 1970s had at least some experience with mind-altering substances! Things like inhalants, which you could buy over the counter in any "head shop" or "adult" shop, were actually considered "kid stuff", compared to the "real drugs" that were available. I remember the topic being discussed (dusting off rusty brain cells, perhaps synthesizing the ester from the alcohol?) on how to make the common inhalants and the instructor was very frank about it but did not offer any hands-on assistance.

Now I do remember in high-school introductory chemistry a brief discussion about explosives, and we DID make basic gunpowder in the lab. I remember what we made would mostly smoke and stink. The instructor did tell us the procedure of how to make things like nitroglycerine and then cited a recent incident where the Weathermen (or somebody like that) blew the front off of a building trying just that.
