This is on Craigslist. Defiantly worth $2,800! I'd buy it if it were closer.

This was posted on Large Format forum. A new shop for film camera repair opened in France at the start of this year. They have some nice equipment!

@ic-racer

Have you already ordered the Reveni tester?

I'm happy with the one I made. If you want to make one like it, I have a thread about it and extra PC boards and parts I can send to you. I had to order multiples of many components.

For people that don't want to build their own, it looks like the Reveni is the best thing available. Have you ordered your Reveni 😉

I didn't know that, respect!

Thanks for the offer, but I lack experience here resp. don't know enough about the topic yet.

Therefore I will order the Reveni as soon as it is available and will familiarize myself first with the topic.

The one I made and I believe the Reveni are based on a Kyoritsu. You might want to check out the Kyoritsu instruction manual on the "Learn Camera Repair" website. That can give you an idea of the functions the other shutter testers are copying. (check your e-mail).

All the devices based on the Kyoritsu test the shutter speed + curtain velocity. They test the camera's built-in meter with a calibrated light source. They also test if the auto exposure gives the correct exposure and they test flash synch too.

I used Maël's services some years ago, before he went to another adventure, and trust him 100%. Easy to deal with, good communicator, good service...

update: I sent him a lens last week, got a call today to discuss the work to be done and the cost estimates... quite cool!

I started measuring my cameras, as I need a reference for the "F-one-kenstein" project.

I built a first version of a tester using an Arduino Leonardo and a photo transistor. The plan is to go up to 5 capters to get more information about shutter behaviour.

At the moment I'm wondering if my tester is accurate or if all my cameras are off...

The "main" F1 is 33% slow at 1/500 to 10% at 1/60 (testing interrupted due to some complaints about the repeated noise ... to be continued)

My beloved M4 is awfully slow, 71% at 1/1000 (1/333 instead of 1/1000), 50% at 1/500, then 30% for 1/250, 18% for 1/125, still 10% for 1/30, and it starts being accurate enough at 1/15...

The Kodak Brownie Hawkeye is either too slow for 1/50 or too fast for 1/25, both measured at around 1/30th...

I'll run some more tests tomorrow, but this sounds like some cameras need CLA. Not sure I'll dare opening the M4 though.

thanks! This is precious information!

This morning nobody is there to complain about the noise, so I could test my "new" Canon TX... It's the most accurate of all at the moment (AE1P still has film in it, I did not try the Rolleiflex yet) which is interesting since the camera clearly needs some love (aperture test lever is slow to get back, everything feels dry and stiff...)
