Whoever thinks that there are 32,000 people on APUG that will pay $50US to $100US a roll for Kodachrome, is [or are] just sniffing their own self released internal gases.

Be careful Sirius Glass because we all are not so old from our age that we all will not see prices over USD 30,- to all E6 films in some years.(If E6 will survive)
Most of us will wonder then about C41 priced films at minimum USD 18,99 and there will be no chance to get the cheapest simple 35mm film below 10 bucks. (because all bw films wiĺl be priced much more than USD 10,-)
Thats the future of film - and then 50,- bucks to Kodachrome including developement would be a normal price.
And a calculated basis on such niveau is more realistic for a manufacturer to think about twice about bringing back some films.
Same people who spent USD 1500,- for digital 35mm cameras every second year will also think about twice.

To speculations of million users who need Kodachrome and would pay any pricing ......? That will not help to have toughts in realistic dimentions.
But there is an other way - just to imagine : the todays investment from Kodak on bringing back Ektachrome.
10 times higher : - this sum would cost Kodachrome ! (for sure - just guess if it is a little more. ....)
Regarding the first pricing of Ektachrome and the amound of first sellings, factor 2,5 would be enough (2,5 times the same
investment).
(If we may speculate on price increasing of Ektachrome to the double in concern of first price and in addition if Kodak could sell the double amounds of Ektachrome than first calculation is showing)
Nevertheless Ektachrome first have to be a real big succsess - more than Kodak can belive now. Because the money for a general advance first have to come from somewhere.
If it will come from nowhere - every speculation on future plans is real easy then : "No films any more"
with regards

PS :
I don't think so (no films any more):D

Just to be not missunderstood :
factor 2,5 from Ektachrome investment as a relation of planend investment in concern to expected earnings.
(Because the real sum of investment for a Kodachrome relaunch can't become less it will cost in any case min. 10 times more - but the basis of a business in such case is allways the relation in regard of calculated earnings)

We are realists.
Sure we should be (we better should be) realists - but is it 100% total unrealistic to see a future
(just only if Ektachrome will be real successful) that at one of these days to one Ektachrome from selling (double priced then) will come a sale of 2 Kodachromes ?
with regards

PS : If I have learned just one think within the last years then it is : " NEVER SAY NEVER "

That's like saying all the people who shoot film are like the couple thousand on this website. I'm not campaigning for its return either (nor against it), but you're just hearing from a small vocal minority.

$50 to $100 for a roll? The low end is only about four or five times a roll of Velvia. So, yeah, I would. But probably just as a matter of sheer morbid curiosity, and probably not more than once.
Don't forget in your thoughs that it is much possible then, that Fuji isn't a player in this scenario - so no way with Velvia (relative low priced...:whistling:)
I don't like to see Fuji away but Fuji obviously like to see this.
(don't worry about Fujis total "AWAY") it is just in concern to films because Fuji want (beside other business) become a big player in cosmetics.
(The "color experts").....crazy fututure:cry:.

50 millions at least, and in Canada alone.

are you saying Canadian Photographers have left hands that don't know what their right hand is doing?

google gives the current Canadian Population as 36.29 Million, and compares it to California at 39.3 Million and Australia at 24.13 Million.

I imagine we can add another million or so Canadians who live in Los Angeles full time, but still that does not make for 50 million Kodachrome fans

Canadian photographers do not have an option about bringing back Kodachrome because they spend all their Saturday mornings in Canadian Tire stores or is it Canadien Tyres?

sounds good !
i guess big yellow killed it off before its time !
i wonder why the 50million kodachrome lovin' canadians weren't buying it before it was cancelled ?

i also find it weird that so many photographers would spend 50-300$ / roll on a roll of film considering
i often read about how kodak is overcharing for film, or people shoe string budgeting gear
or they won't even pony up like 6¢ / day for a subscription to photrio, or that a 2$ cup of coffee is too much !
not sure about you but i think most film photographers i know are cheaper than eugene krabbs !

maybe canadian photographers are free wheelin' and loaded !

...

Well, you're forgetting Canadian geese and people who like Canadian bacon.

Since I see a few new Kodachrome supporters on this thread already, I think we can conservatively say 35,000,000 (million!) buyers for the new Chinese Kodachrome.

There are a few more of us than the 2016 figure. Closer to 25.2m now.
Besides which, we are greatly outnumbered by kangaroos -- 47 million of them...

That's because you calculate in US, with the conversion rate we are almost 48 millions.

That's because of our natural excessive politeness, I'm afraid. When Canadians are facing a door, we all want to hold it for the others, and we end up going home because nobody want to be rude.

Canadian Tires are for Canadians what boxes are for cats.

Don't think big - just think bigger. So lets make the big yellow great again. I promise : There will be a great future and this people who are working at the big yellow are just wonderfull - I love them.
By the way Fuji has sold their complete film making departements this morning
to a company in South Corea. Washington post is speculating in their tomorrow issue about the sister of Kim Yung who schall be in charge of this complete unknown company.
A case of breaking international embargo - if North Corean money possible is involved in this Fuji deal .....

"Ah - Kodachrome! That's where I had them: I proved with... with... geometric logic that a Chinese Kodachrome production facility did exist. And I'd have produced that box of Kodachrome if they hadn't started a trade war. I... I know now they were only trying to protect an American industry."
