Jobo CPE2+w.lift: First runs got me thinking

Just bought a 15something on the bay. The price on the 2553 is prohibitly high.
Then I got another question. Whats the upper coqreel on the lift for?

The lift has two gears. According to the manual, one is for the 1500, 2500 and 2800 tanks/tubes. The other one is for the 3000 tanks. But the 3000 tanks won't fit on the CPE2 (which is what I have).
