I've actually received a lot of generosity so I'm really happy with my setup. Now I have a second enlarger I'm going to use it as a dedicated pre flash unit.

I would go ahead and use the Jobo as prescribed in the instructions. When these processors were designed print processing was more complicated than today. Biggest pain in using tubes is cleaning and drying the tube between prints. In the good old mass production days you could afford to buy extra tubes.
You can use trays at 24C easy peezzy.

I’ll try this. I was very generously gifted it so it’d be daft not to. Never tried trays but I don’t know how I’d keep chemicals at the critical temp. Also, do the drums need dried every single print? Even from exposure test strip to the next, every time you put new paper in? I would’ve assume rinsed, not fully dried.

I just keep them at room temperature....
Temperature for RA4 isn't as critical as it is for C41. Just make sure to develop long enough for the temperature you choose.

The Jobo is perfectly fine for prints. The big tank holds big prints and you can use a minimum amount of developer - rather than half a gallon in a big tray that perhaps you slosh all over the place in the dark. You don't need to dry the tank between prints - just let all the water run out of it. Having the tank upside-down in a tray while you make your next exposure is enough time to let all the running water drip out of it.

+1. Also you can use your slot processor at room temperature. As Koraks says develop to completion. I've heard that some folks use 2 minutes at 20°C. As far as drying the tube, it's just much easier dry.
