Give it little while, these things take their time, consider there's beurocarcy involved. To some of you that is a bad thing, but it is the only, and right way to do things in large organizations....

Consider the USARMY, they might take their time, but when they arrive on the scene, people sit up wide awake.

The Euro camera went missing for the better part of 3 weeks, but was returned, sound and safe.

Thanks for the positive note Erik! I'm hoping you are right!

Hey Mike, Freudian moment there, I can see that now, between the lines, there might have been a thought, having the USARMY go looking for the camera, I bet they'd give it up in a second, whoever has it, as soon as those drones started circling!

Yeah, caught that Erik. Thanks for the suggestion... The USARMY is a little busy right now and wouldn't take my call. Oh well, there's still hope!

I doubt very much that the US Army could take on the combined forces of the US Postal 'Service'.

Are you sure they would find a camera? They are still searching for an ugly guy with a false beard and a kitchen towel around his head. :whistling:

Ah, he believes in divine interception I think, seems to think he will get away with it.

US post on the other hand are sensible guys and gals who know brute force when they see it.

On the other hand ,let THEM loose in the hunt for the dirty towel. I bet if he tries to slip away without a mailbox up to official spec they would be all over him in a sec!

I belive you Chris, I've been following the sales statistics on guns in the US for more than a decade....
Don't wake up the sleeping giant.....

But USPS SHOULD be looking for that little camera, not for picking a fight with the USARMY.....

The USPS picks fights with anybody who questions them, hence the huge amount of money they are losing.

However, everybody knows, you don't mess with the Postal Police... they are some scary people! Being a former postal employee, I can vouch for that statement!

Relax! We're advancing on the top ten list, and the credit goes to the postal system!

(I wonder wether Sile are gonna change her sig-line into something else, like if you stumble across a postman, what caliber would you use?......)

Mike,
As a postal employee, were you aware of operation methods of the days of old? There's a lot of history there. (I'm a bit of a history nut, history optional.) A few years ago, a government entity submitted to us a request for proposal for an upgrade of one of their building systems. Without going into much detail here, the building used to be strictly a large mail center, and the design of the building led to some questions they were hesitant to answer. It was clear to me that there was a lot of mistrust, and they took mail tampering seriously. While we found they were just getting budget figures, and not ready to allocate funds at the time, I still walked away enlightened as to how things worked at the USPS a hundred years ago.

Yes, I am aware of things... However, some things had not changed and I heard a lot of stories. One such thing was hidden passages (with entrances hidden inside and out) in the building with secret peek holes where Postal Inspectors would watch us as we worked. Most of the old guys pointed out where these observation points were to me, which bugged me out more. Nothing like trying to sort mail while wondering how many eyes were on you (being the new guy, probably more than some of the others).

The PO I worked in had some major problems before I got there and had enacted all forms of monitoring while I was there. It was quite freaky and did not end when we left the building. So, I know how seriously they take these things, but morons still work in the system, hence the problem we have now.

So you worked in a similar building! It's an interesting view from the other side of the glass and to tour the passages. Every building is different in same way, shape or form. Because my questions were strictly related to building design and life safety, I was able to see what most of the public never sees, or even knows about. An interesting experience indeed.

Sounds like fun. I always thought it would be fun to see how extensive the passages were. The sorting facilities were huge, and I'm sure, had a much more extensive system. Those were the days! Thanks for stirring up old memories

Back in the day, the postal service here got a designated postal gun, a single-shot pistol with a knife attached, for the defence of mailmen crisscrossing our barren winter landscapes.

I understand some postal workers carry legally in the uS today, along with fire detectives and other services like that, I was told there are less leeway for a police officer firing his arm than one of the others, supposedly noone shall bitch with public emplyees.

Hopefully none of the postal detectives opens up on you if you go asking for that missing camera!

Mace? I'd say that would be an eyeopener to the nice ladies at the local office! I bet they would rather offer you a nice, hot cup of coffe, than start weilding a can of irritant!

Here in San Jose, they just ignore you and of course, close their station just as you get to the front of the line.

Breaks are breaks and we wouldn't want to break Union rules for the sake of customer service.
