is there a new flash that works on a Pentax 6x7? X sync cord?

I replaced my old Vivitar 283 flash units with the new Yongnuo YN560 IV flash unit. The Yongnuo has a PC input port that allows me to synch with my cameras that do not have a hot shoe.

I second the Yongnuo. I have two of them to supplement my Canon 580EX speedlights and they're high quality, reliable and have the PC jack. I've used them with my Norita 66 bodies and my Mamiya TLRs and they work fine.

I have a brand new Yongnuo exactly the same as the one pictured. Can't recommend it. Out of the box, mine is defective. All the lights and menus on the back work, but no matter what I do, I cannot get the flash to "pop." And since there are no warranty service centers here in the US, I'm looking at having to pay shipping both ways to get it repaired. Which will cost as much as another new unit. So, no thanks.

At least my old Vivitar 283 is reliable.

Unless ALL of the flashes are the same brand and model, I would NOT hook up multiple units via a splitter! Too many possible issues due to different trigger voltages and/or different trigger polarities between flash units. A mix of flash units is best accomplished with a single radio trigger transmitter with several radio trigger receivers.

I think the confusion stems from the word "new." The short answer, nonetheless, is "Yes, with a bracket and PC cord." Since the 6x7 has no ISO shoe. But it appears the OP has pretty much figured out what to do, so all the rest of this is just -- stuff.

A made in India hot shoe w/PC Cord DL-0136P arrived from Samy's. The Canon Speedlite 430EX flash now works on my Pantax 6x7 and BOY can it get bright. f22 and rich negatives here I come.
Two other flashes were purchased.
I got great flash negs using the old Vivitar 2800 flash. Not so good yet at f22 but depth of field was great!

My kit is the one for nikon but it works perfectly in all manual mode with just about any other brand. On the pc-hotshoe adapter ive triggered my flash from my LF shutters and zeiss ikonta 6x6, Yashica MAT 124G and the pc port on the RZ67PROII. It works on the hotshoe on my mamiya (645 PRO and RZ67PROII) and Sony A6000. As long as the centerpin connects your all good. I do however have some Youngnou 602 triggers that won't work with anything other than my nikons (F90x and F100)
To me it's an added bonus that if things go wrong with trigger voltage all you do is Fry a few $ worth of reciever and not a circuit in your camera.

I bought a Vivitar 385HV Series 1 flash and it worked on the camera (Pentax 6x7) but I have not learned how to actually use it yet. I'm still working with the Vivitar 2800 and am starting to get good results on auto with bounce. My blog is sort of chronicling my progress.
This flash has a lcd screen not a dial.

I don't understand why yongnuo or somebody doesn't make a simple auto flash - I'd like a newly remade Nikon SB 80 or something without the TTL parts

I'd just pick up a vintage Vivitar 283 or 285 off eBay for cheap, and be happy shooting. Both flashes work very well with their onboard thyristor circuit.

Another Yongnuo guy here. I actually use their manual flash controller on my RZ. You can see (there was a url link here which no longer exists) here when I had difficulties getting a spark last year. Nice little gadget.
