IPAN Panoramic Is any camera worth this much?

In theory, the 135N (normal 35mm frame) backs can be modded to 135W as well.

I'd be curious to see how that is done. I have a 135N back for my ETRSi, but I hardly use it. I'm guessing you'd have to cut out the frame on the back to allow light to create a wider image, but you'd also have to either change the internal gearing to advance further, or after every shot, cap the lens and take a second shot to get it to advance a second time...

Just have a look on other pre-owned items on this site. Carl Zeiss 50\1,5 for Contax for $18000. The same are 300-600 on eBay!

As I recall, you move one of the rollers, and file down the film gate (there is a 3D printed design on Thingiverse which is meant to be professionally printed in metal, as an alternative). You're right about the film advance-- Unless you swap out the gear, you'll have to advance an extra frame after each shot.

Thanks! I never use my 135N (it came in a bundle), but I have the screen with lines for it and the W, so I may actually try that. I'll need to figure where to source those tiny closed bearings, but that looks to be the hardest part.

I think there's a discussion in the comments. Amazon has the bearings, almost certainly, just need to know what size.

Looks like McMaster Carr has some that might work. I only use Amazon as a last, last resort.

Went into the store toady and wow, they are serious about that price. I guess if you don't buy a ticket can't win the lottery.

Has it been sold yet and if not has the store reduced the price? If sold, do you know what it sold for?

With the reappearance of this thread - diverged to a saner line of conversation, I might add, I took another look at the 'iPan' (doesn't someone have to pay Apple a royalty over the 'i'?). I had always assumed someone had slipped a decimal point, twice, when pricing. Seems this isn't the case.

On the one hand the thing is worth what someone is willing to pay, on the other...

• The thing is preternaturally ugly, OK, looks only a mother could love;
• It's engraved with the former owner's name in big letters, a US government entity of all things (I know, the land of the $47,000 toilet seat, but the art gallery isn't the military) so the makers of this camera were the low bidder on some government RFQ and the present seller got hold of it Govm't Surplus (usually a few cents on the dollar);
• In photo #6 it shows the stop down lever is held with duct-tape, you would think for $1,000,000 they could clean it up a bit;
  
• Just because there were only 50 made doesn't make it scarce - one can surmise that likely only 50 people wanted one;
• It doesn't do anything special, you can get the same picture with a 4x5 camera and a 65mm lens;
• It isn't historically significant.

Jay Leno used to do a skit of things sold on ebay, this would fit right in between the popcorn kernel in the shape of The Madonna ($176) and Madonna's spat out chewing gum ($4,727).

It has not sold. I don't think it will. But it would be interesting to be proven wrong. I told them in the store, that $20,000 would not be unrealistic. I have seen one off cameras go for similar.

Film format is 24x108mm
not 1:4 but 1: 4.5.
I can also not advice to get artpanorama 612 since its bad design. we could hardly alter to make film flatter. its not flat enough- i struggled a lot. better forgetting if you need it ultrasharp.

This is exciting news, so exciting I missed it first time around. I have a 120 Holga Panoramic camera that I've put a 90mm Super Angulon on, it almost looks like the IPAN from a distance, how much is mine worth!!!!
