Introducing ADOX CAPTURA dust binding technology

We started ramping up the powder production in our new factory. This gave us the opportunity to finally introduce our long researched and prepared ADOX CAPTURA dust binding technology.
The above image is without and shows how much powder chemistry is dusting upon mixture.
CAPTURA releases the photographer from having to smell and inhale chemical powders while mixing up photo chemistry from powder packaging.
The powder now looks and feels "wet" when it comes from the packaging but it is not. It also keeps the powders from clogging up.
CAPTURA is water solvent, biodegradable and has no impact on photochemistry.
We will be upgrading all powder products to the new technology and we are also preparing more powder chemicals.

Adox' reply on Tetenal's tablets.

But... how is longevity of these bound powders? I guess as long as still sealed there will be no difference to the plain version.

You mean after opening?
I´d have to look if we R&D´ed this. Usually you mix up a powder bag after you open it. Storage in sealed bags was fine over 5 years.

This means we stored it over 5 years and found it to be still working. We do not guarantee any product longer than 2 years but this does not mean it can´t be used after 5 years.

To life again with some update and development?
So is the AP44 process
I do not know whether my question is an idiotic question or a question in its place.
I feel that you are the legitimate heir of the beloved brand Agfa
- Perhaps in practice and speaking my words is wrong - but psychologically, this is my personal feeling.

Presumably not every powder ingredient needs to be Captura treated but in those that do such as very fine powder( fine in the sense of not coarse) it might be a real benefit. In the case of, for instance, Kodak Xtol or IIford ID11 I have never noticed a problem.

I wonder what it adds to the cost of production. Can the user expect to pay more for the powder treated with Captura compared to non Captura treated powder?

We can (theoretically) restart this but other manufacturers prices are superb and we are a smaller factory. So we could DO it but we could not compete ;-)

Not so much. Maybe 50 cents.

It´s still a mixture but the entire mixing is bound by CAPTURA.

It sounds like the bulk blend could offer excellent consistency from "pouch to pouch " . Definitely an improvement. I like using powders. I have exhaust system to mitigate the dust, but I still am very careful. Better all around to be able to control the dust.

Does this aid in dissolving the powder?

We did not test this. We only tested if it did not make dissolving the powder worse. If it aids at all the effect is small.

I generally dream that all AGFA products will be offered,
The Ap70 - as well as the AP44 - for home use,
I hope that the production of these products will be accompanied by the production of color films (positive and negative).

I think what the folks from ADOX are saying is that the currently marketed products for those equivalent processes are still available and produced in large enough quantities that there is not a market for them to produce a competitive product. ADOX is focused on producing what they can that is a complemet to what others sell, while assuring themselves that they have access to the technology needed to fill gaps.

if the process becomes unavailable- then they would consider making a replacement, assuming their is any film to process.

As Mirko indicated the substances are blended and then treated with a binder, by this enlarging particle size (or at least changing particle size spread) and eliminating dust.

Next step would be pressing it to a tablet. But handling difference (throwing in a tablet vs. pouring out a sachet) is small.

Yes a big prize awaits anyone who can make a developer pill and/or fixer pill that in tablet form last forever or a very long time, can be kept in a small container like headache pills are and simply added to water when the user is ready to develop a film.
