All film should be stored within a Faraday cage at 0 Kelvin. This will stop the CIA, NSA and GCHQ from interfering with the molecules with their dastardly spy-rays

The problem with the beef analogy is no one has told us whether frozen and fresh film taste any different.

carrots are nicer just dug up washed and eaten raw.

Thanks but

as EFKE don't pre harden any of their film like Kodak do suggest you should

- not prewash
- hold all solutions to within 3 degrees F ( including wash) of prior solution
- use plain water stop

I also use plain hypo fix ( no acid)

I always process like that

All my Efke was 35mm and ok...

The only strange thing I had was the cassettes were not crimped like Kodaks again this was normal 60 years ago so I was not troubled. You need to not drop them...

Thanks, I don't have anymore, except the IR stuff, I was told the EFKEitis was caused by static in the factory when coating was happening, remember these are black spots on the print, I've had issue with FOMA with emulsion LIFTS on the film due to acid stop, but this was a different look, very distinct shape rice grain. Also, I don't feel like I should have to change my entire process and buy a whole new set of chemicals just to develop a film. The fact that you have to go to special lengths to process it without error is just another example of a poorly designed product.

It I have serious issues with the IR820 I'll use a water stop but I'm not changing my fixer or buying new chemicals just for it, that's silly.

Static would normally leave white tracks on prints?
The EFKE is similar to the Foma.
Hope the IR works ok for you.

Considering the cost of the film, the fact it is not made anymore, you usually can not reshoot the types of unique images that IR gives, gas and other incidental expenses, the above statement is just insane. You have *got* to start earning more money sir, that way you can get your priorities straight....

whether it is frozen, fridge, or ambient stored ( my method of choice )
the most important thing to do is shooting, and enjoying the film.
unfortunately too much emphasis is put on the storage and bragging
about films.

OK, I probably have one of the largest stashes on this site, but I do use it and rotate stock and refresh the stuff currently made quarterly, it is a plan I adopted from several fine art pros I know.
Plus, I do leave a little space for Kush, Bubble Gum and Purple Diesel...:whistling:

Hi PKM-25,

Is it possible to show us your film stock. I just love seeing those images - and more importantly convinces me to buy more.

BTW, is there any thread here where people post the images of their films stocks?

Bests,

sounds like you have a plan. its good to have a plan ...
because most people who hoard its an impulse buy and chances are they
never use it they just hoard it and brag about all the film they have in their freezer or fridge or on their shelf.
about 13 years ago i made 2 purchases of large format films none of it was a hoard but for other things
more than 1000 sheets of tmx, 1000 sheets of tmy ( both 4x5 ) and 2000 sheets of tri x (5x7 )
the 4x5 was for a job that was supposed to take over a year to complete, documenting a mill complex in new bedford mass, it was 65$/box from
b+h and would have all been used in less than a year ... the tri x was from a friend all for 20$ at the time 5x7 tri x was about 130$/box and after
we had our first daughter i couldn't afford to buy 130/box film and $20 sounded good, after all he said it was just " a few boxes " LOL
... the job vaporized after 9-11 ... the contract was actually in the mail and i was supposed to start in 4-5 days the following week
the 5x7 was for fun and portrait jobs ... as the the years moved on i have used up nearly all the film on jobs and personal projects,
and like YOU i have used the film ... its been all on a shelf in the studio and its all been used and unlike some of what the big thinkers say, there is no fog on any of the film
... as i said most people who hoard do it because it is an impulse buy and then they go on line and advertise " i just bought another 300000 rolls of bla bla bla "
because all their friends online do the same thing ... its like a support group

its good to see you have a hoard in your freezer with room for other stuff too ...
i'd get rid of the kush though, scented camel dung probably isn't a good thing to have near your film diesel is ok though

Based on some of the answers in this thread, I don't really know what good a photo of a pile of film would do really.....

I have shown this one before but it is really better to show photos made with it that move you, I used to have a good number on this site before I left for awhile due to Kodak bashing. Not sure how to rotate the image back, uploaded from my phone as I make the call on an ad shoot, cancelled due to weather...

Good ideas and good intentions often expire before film does...

Good Grief! That's a lot of film! That's more than a lot of film suppliers carry these days.

You should probably start an annual sale or something of your film collection
