Maybe it's pre-set leaver? You select f stop then open iris for easier focusing (focus shift??) and then close it to working f stop?? Haven't seen this feature on repro lenses, but who knows?? Waterhouse stop?? Maybe, but it looks like engraved f stop scale next to it. Gelatine Filter slot?? USSR relied more on thick, heavy, glass filters.
By the way, has anyone ever encountered a Repro Claron or Artar that actually has the WH stops?
And while on the subject of lens bits, where did lens mounting flanges disappear to? - Is there a hoard of flanges deep in the bowels of the Brasil defended by a terrible dragon?
