In praise of the Mamiya C System TLRs

...the 330s has the brightest, clearest and easiest to focus screen of all the C- series TLR's by a considerable margin. Maybe the best focusing screen of any reflex camera. A huge surprise on such an old piece of kit.

To extend that, I bought my dad's C330f from him when he went to Bronica SQA. He said what he missed about the TLR was that he could see and focus much better. His eyesight t that time was declining (then came back later interestingly), and he really loved the C330f for it bright open viewfinder.

Good point. What is actually bigger, and heavier, and louder than a C Series TLR?

My C330f is smaller and lighter than my Pressman, but I don't think I can call it quieter.

Loudness depends on the shutter. Chrome lenses can be loud. Some black lenses I had were much, much quieter.

Also, and I don't think ever saw this point being made, but TLRs allow you to focus with your best eye. My left eye is basically perfect, but its inconvenient to look through a viewfinder with it.
