Image stats

Is there any statistical data to estimate the number of chemical images taken since the discovery of photography compared with an estimate of the number of digital images taken since the advent of digital photography? The reason I ask, is because it may make us value what chemical images have achieved to date, despite it’s minor role in terms of numbers. But perhaps such stats are not that meaningful. Any thoughts on this?

As far as digital images are concerned people seem to take lots of them on phones and then save them all even the bad ones.

Coat some parchment with emulsion and print on that. Then bury them in the sahara desert. They should be good for a few thousand years.

It was an article tossed around year or so ago. All analog photography was surpassed by images taken with mobile phones.

all the others from the 1800s onward will fade ..
unless they are in the cloud then they will last for ever

This seems like another thinly disguised digital vs analog debate, which the OP seems to have a tendency to post.

Who knows or cares who shot more. And since there are millions more digital cameras being used today including phone cameras, I'd guess that there are more digital pictures, even in it's young existence.

It's not about what medium shot more pictures, but perhaps more about what good stuff YOU happened to shoot.

They other stuff is just angst and fluff.
