I've just come across the mottling on a roll of Pan F Plus used for a developer test. Batch code: 67BPN1C01/02 July 2021. I have a few other rolls from this batch and an additional test to do, so will probably report to Harman.

Edit: The 2nd roll of test film (Pan F Plus) also shows the mottling.

A couple months ago I bought a couple of fresh 120 Pan F bricks, and they've been great so far. Love this stuff!

Had this issue with Pan F and FP4+.

e-mail response from Ilford:

"Based on the description you’ve given, and from seeing your image - the unfortunate findings on your FP4+ roll film links to the issue we raised on our website. ie our statement posted 02/03/20 - https://www.ilfordphoto.com/statement-120-roll-film/

So we definitely will be posting out replacement films to you. Though we will try our best to do this asap, it may take 2-3 weeks before you receive them. (I appreciate however, that replacement items don’t take away the disappointment of losing images).

In order to better help us too, however – please can you let me have the series of 4 numbers on the processed films lower signed edge?
Our company takes great pride in the quality and consistency of its products and all complaints are thoroughly investigated. I will be forwarding your unfortunate incident to our priority teams colleagues.

Please accept our apologies for the disappointment caused on this occasion."

Hi Tom, I just processed a roll of Pan F Plus this evening, which I had shot yesterday and it has a lot of mottling. Guess what, I have a further two rolls and I've checked the box details to find the following... Batch code: 67BPN1C01/01 July 2021.
My batch was likely manufactured the day before yours! Obviously, they had problems at that time. I'm going to write to them and notify them of the issue.

Best regards,
Seoirse (George)

Hello George,

This is a good idea, and feel free to reference my experience with a similar / the same batch if you'd think that would be helpful. I'd be interested to have some information from Harman with regard to whether these mottling problems are now mostly behind them, aside from the long standing triggers that most likely do not apply to your film (or mine). I have a small stock of year 2000 expiry Kodak Plus-X 120 that shows no mottling and is evidently significantly out of date, which shows this problem is by no means inevitable.

Thanks Tom, I'll let you know how I get on.

Or at least wasn't inevitable with the (then Kodak manufactured) backing paper and Plus-X 120 emulsion that was able to be made about a quarter century ago :whistling:.
Many things, and many possibilities have changed in that quarter century.

Alright, just to confirm that this evening I have sent off a feedback form to Ilford Harman regarding the Pan F Plus mottle problem I'm having. I'll keep you posted as soon as I receive a reply.
