It was fun to make small pictures (and to work with 35mm again).

Heck Jon, I still shot mine in 4x5. Not much enlarging onto the 4x6 paper.

What I discovered was the joy of making postcards out of my photos. Everyone I've shown them to loves 'em and I love making them now.

Alex, I noticed the shape of the 35mm format matches the format of the postcard size very closely, so I decided to print using that format. I liked the small pictures a lot and have started showing them in galleries and sold one.

Would I be guessing correctly that Kate Seymour and BW Kate are one and the same? If so, it seems pretty clear (given another recent win by her) that Kate has this Ilford stuff down pat

Congratulations to all!

Matt

Yes Matt,

Kate Seymour is BWKate! (I mean me!) Thanks for the kind remark! It was a great contest and Congrats to everyone who entered. Postcards are so much fun and I do love printing them.

Thanks Simon for posting who won!

Congratulations to everyone on the list, I cant wait to see the entries up soon. If the competition ever returns I'll be sure to enter - postcard paper's the most fun-ly innovative thing I've seen in a while, which I quite respect.

I'll just join in the congratulations, and cling to my firm belief that the only reason I didn't win is that I never got around to sending any postcards! :D

Congratulations to the winners! I never sent anything in, but however I bought some paper, ran some film through the camera and got some good photos to put on paper. Only problem is, I finally got the last big hurdle concerning the darkroom out of the way only yesterday night. Well, next time, next time...

Congrats to the winners and participants too. Sure want to see the pictures, either online or in the magzine.

Yes, I thought about entering also, but the only film I had available was Velvia. :D Perhaps, next year.

The runner-up.

Since she is not a part of the APUG community, I should introduce the runner-up, Melanie King, to you all. Melanie is my girlfriend -- she shoots with an Agfa Record III folding camera, and her preferred subjects are kids and old folks, mostly in the Appalachian regions of North Carolina where she was born and raised. She is hopelessly modest, but I will take this opportunity to state publicly that she shames me as a photographer. Ilford could not have chosen a more deserving artist.

Thankyou Simon,

I am very honored in having one of my shots picked. Ilford Rocks!
Which picture was picked?

Well done Ilford for the competition and congratulations to the winners, surprised the number of entries was so low. I did not enter myself but I would have if the entry date had been in early spring. I'm not sure about other members but I do most of my darkroom work during the dark winter evenings.

I had planned to enter the competition, even got hold of the postcard paper, but then the way too hot summer came along, and even if I had wanted to, I couldn't do any darkroom work. So, yes, I agree... And having the end date in the middle of the summer holiday season may also not be the best idea...

Still, I hope there will be another competition someday, and I hope I have time to join then.

Dear Jamieson,

The truck ( three quarter view ) on IR film I would guess...very nice print:

Simon.

Congratulations to all the winners and runners up!

I was going to take part too, but I recently started a new job which has taken up far more of my time than I planned, and this competition slipped my mind.

Ah well, next time...

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to Simon and everyone at Ilford for all their efforts in supplying traditional chemistry and materials to the photographic community.

Dear Sanders et al,

We will have the scans at APUG and Emulsion by the end of this week, I know this sounds like a long time, and you all want to see them..but we are preparing for PHOTOKINA and the marketing department has some deadlines...and I can assure you you do not want me to scan them ?

Ilford competition

Thanks also for having the contest. Looking forward to seeing the photos! We also were going to enter, but the photos for which we get paid weren't suitable and took all the time. Hopefully you will have another competition soon. We also really appreciate the Ilford products -- really glad to have them!

Is the info for this competition available at a static website? I avoid trying to read any APUG thread longer than 2-3 pages....the last time I was interested in a postcard thingy, all the info was buried in a thread. Overload if you know what I mean.

The original thread was some months ago, posted by Simon. tim

Congrats to all the winners. Thanks to Simon and Ilford for doing it, looking forward to seeing the winning entries. Wanted to enter, even bought the postcard paper from J&C, but my plans were unexpectedly changed and other things had to take priority, including putting the darkroom out of commission for the whole month of August. If we are lucky, maybe another go at it next year?
