Dear All,

Firstly, thank you to all who took the time and effort to enter the competition, we had over 130 entries which is a little less than we were hoping and expecting but we have been very, very impressed with the quality of the entries, not only of the photography but of the printing as well :

The competition was judged today by the board of directors of ILFORD Photo, HARMAN technology Limited : the judging was blind, in that we had no idea of the name or location of the entrant, or the type of film that was used :

We originally stated we would have a winner, a runner up and 8 highly commendeds, due to the judging process the directors have asked that a joint third place be added to reflect the quality of the images.

1st Place : Luis Miguel Casteneda Navas : Spain Prize $ 1,500
Runner Up : Melanie King : NY USA : Prize $ 500 of ILFORD photo products
Joint 3rd : Sam Elkind : GA USA : Prize 50 ILFORD Films
Joint 3rd : Will Sadler : WI USA : Prize 50 ILFORD Films
Highly Commendeds : Svend Videbak : Finland
Stanislav Belyaev : NM USA
Tim Curry : AZ USA
Jamieson E. Brown : IA USA
Cate McRae : United Kingdom
Kate Seymour : BC Canada

All highly commendeds will receive 20 ILFORD Photo films of their choice : All entrants will receive a certificate signed by the board of directors of ILFORD Photo, HARMAN technology Limited.

I will arrange the scanning of the above images next week and send them to Sean so as they can be displayed to APUG, we hope you will all be as pleased as we were.

Simon Galley, ILFORD Photo / HARMAN technology Limited

Thanks so much Simon. It really means a lot to me that Ilford is so dedicated to film and this community. I'm just as excited about the postcard being in Emulsion though!

Thanks again,

Will

Would I be guessing correctly that Kate Seymour and BW Kate are one and the same? If so, it seems pretty clear (given another recent win by her) that Kate has this Ilford stuff down pat

Congratulations to all!

Simon,

If your so inclined, I would be happy to post the winners on the Satin Snow Website as well, the more we can get the word out, the better...

Is this going to be an ongoing comptition?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Oh...

Could a few of them be using 'member names' other than their real names then? I guess if they fess up, they blow their cover

Best,

Congragulations Luis, and to all the rest of the winners. Your work is fantastic, and I'm thrilled you all did so well.

Congratulations and well done to all the winners. I hope you had as much fun printing up your postcards as I did printing mine. I hope to see your images on some paper boxes.
