Dear Apuggers,

ILFORD Photo / HARMAN technology are pleased to announce a second factory tour at Mobberley, CHESHIRE, UK. Our proposed date ( subject to confirmation ) will be on friday June 15th : The tour will comprise all areas of the plant from R&D, emulsion making, coating and finishing to quality control and an opportunity to meet with the specialists involved in those areas.

For those interested, we have once again made it on a friday, so that people can go on and visit some of the local area and make a long weekend of it, we are very close to the English Lake District or the Peak district, both national parks, or for Beetles fans, we are less than an hour away from Liverpool, European city of culture 2008. I remind you we are less than 30 minutes from Manchester International Airport.

We hope you you will take up the invitation to visit with us and see how the products are designed, manufactured and tested.

We will have a maximum of 50 places, I will monitor the response, and if numbers look OK I will post how to book your place etc.

Simon : ILFORD Photo / HARMAN technology Limited :

Most interesting. I had to cancel last year; I would still love to see where my film, paper and chemicals come from. Sign me up, at least as "interested".

Well, it would be great to be able to take the tour (on my birthday nonetheless!) but unless I win the lottery I am not able to go, either.

I would love to be able to go, but can't guarantee that I will be visiting England at the time...

I'm definitely interested. I have just noticed that Flybe are offering an early morning flight from Southampton to Manchester for £0.00 and the evening return flight for the same bargain price. i.e. you only pay about £30 in taxes!

What would be the approximate timing for this tour?

Steve.

Simon, when will the tour of your New England plant be....oh, thats right, there is no plant over here..sorry 'bout that. I and many others from over this side would love to go, but alas...not this time! I guess for now we'll have to settle for your products only.

Simon, greetings. I've not been out of the States for a decade now (I lived in Dublin for a couple of years in the 1980s) but this might be incentive enough to renew my passport. Put me down as an interested person, and Melanie makes two.

Simon, I'm afraid I can't take you up on your generous offer, but I've just got to ask the dumb-ass question. How can we actually see the emulsion making, coating etc in the dark?

It's not dumb, and as a previous guest I can tell you that there is a smaller (smaller; it's huge) test machine on which they kindly waste materials so that you see the process in daylight.

Hi Simon,
I'd definitely be interested, providing it didn't clash with work commitments.

Folks You'll see more than you might imagine( safelight torches provided where necessary). More importantly, you'll get a feel for the atmosphere amongst the whole workforce which is committment to quality and the customer.

The vibes are good from the top down.

I was going to ask the same question! Would very much like to see the plant again, unless of course the trip is booked out with "1st timers"

If there is a place please put me down as definite.

Well, I have booked and payed for my flight so I am getting a trip to Manchester if I get onto the tour or not.

If I booked yesterday I would only have paid the airport tax. Today the price has risen to £2.79 each way. I feel ripped off!

Plus my wife said it was o.k.for me to go! Put me down as definitely interested.

Since Steve got 'ripped off' for the flights if its on I will buy his lunch, I also now know Mr.Hicks birthday...he will also now know mine...its today ! As for Leons note, I think we need to look at numbers, the max is 50, so if its a go-er I think we need to offer first timers the first places, if there are spare spaces I will be happy to welcome the second timers again.

As for booking, I will see numbers by friday and then organise 'how to book'

Regards

Simon.
