When I was a kid it was the summer 3 week trips west and north to enjoy the mountains and cool air. Spent enough time in Canada to truly love the country.

It's funny, well really not, but my wife and I said we were really going to travel when the kids were gone and she retired. We travel less now than when we had kids home. I got to really push her to go anywhere unless it's to see the kids, grandkids or great grandkids. That sucks!

I think I remember seeing them there.
We have them here in South Delta, on the other end of the ferry to the Victoria area.
They are actually a bit of an affectation - they will grow here, so people plant them in order to be able to show them off to people from Toronto or Winnipeg or Regina!
The city has them planted in the median down the centre of our main road!

I suppose the locals frown on the "lower 48" types trying to park a 30 year old Winnebago over night to camp.

It was 55°F something like 12°C, beautiful day. I drove up to Cedar Rapids, the Quaker Oats plant was making Capt Crunch with Crunch berries. Nothing smells better! No palm trees though

I just wasted 4 or 5 hours trying to make something work from Hasselblad negatives. That wouldn't have happened if I was using my 6x9 rangefinders.

That is really something! I'm trying to figure out what palm variety to order so I can have one on my beach at the cottage in Lake Station, MI.. Looks like a Jelly Palm is the only one that might survive our cool weather.
