I love the OG* Hasselblad flash grip. It's perfect. I tried one of the fully adjustable "Snap Grip" that Hasselblad sold at the end. Not as nice the original non adjustable version works better for me. The Snap Grip was a joint effort with Sunpak.
The 500 cm is a perfect camera, no need for ttl flash etc. Just the purest form of Viktor's dream. If you want to spice it up get an Acute Matte screen, no metered prisms, just pure Hasselblad.

* Original Gangsta

I saw the price of one of those screens πŸ™€
I think I'll use that money to buy film 😁

πŸ‘ I've been shooting the Kentmere 200 in my Hassy. Perfectly suited for each other. Not sure that I clearly remember old school Plus-X in 120, but the Kentmere 200 is lovely stuff.

I've been shooting with Hasselblads since the 80's and while I always wanted an Acute-Matte screen the Dutch blood in my veins starts boiling every time I see the price. I can almost buy a good 500C body for what an Acute-Matte screen goes for. I can buy a 500ELM body for the same cost. My 76 yr old eyes aren't the best for sure, but they make do and my wallet feels better that way. I know those screens are great to have, but when you really look them over and see what they are made of, I think they are a ripoff myself.. Way over priced for what they are. They are worth it to some folks I guess, but not worth it to me. Money saved can go to good use elsewhere. Like donuts, apple and cherry fritters for example. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

I got lucky and got a couple of these screens before the current situation drove prices through the roof.
I have a 50mm Floating Lens Element Lens, not the last version, but the one where you need to actually manually fine tune focus. With the AcuteMatte it's like IMAX at perfect focus. Biblical. My 69 year old eyes appreciate the help πŸ™‚
It's one of the items that one doesn't seek, just let it find you 😊😎

Any kind of fritter sounds amazing to me right now. I will settle for some nice strawberry yogurt, which I am getting now.

I've got both types of screens. The more useful focusing aid, I've found, though, is a chimney finder with the variable diopter adjustment.

I just bought an older one for $60 US.. Not only is focusing much easier, it doubles as a light table loupe.

Yep, they are really helpful, I have a couple and they do indeed serve double duty as a loupe and for looking at the rear screen of a digital back in bright light when using live view.

In terms of screens, I am in the same boat, stocked up years ago when they were in the $200 range. One option now is this guy out of Europe, people seem to be really happy with his screens and they are reasonably priced. He does them in batches so keep an eye out or email him if you don’t see what you are looking for in stock:

Duh, you're cutting back remember! You have to save your loonies for that Hasselblad. If your mouth waters for a cherry fritter then let me tell you about the blueberry fritters we have during blueberries season............I guess I better not.

Yes, I was going to add that to my post, but didn't. I have that finder and it works very well. If I want to get really picky with focus I remove my film back, slip on my ground glass attachment to the body and then mount the chimney finder to that and focus just like you would with a view camera. I don't use that method much on my 500C, but more often on my Hasselblad SWC for checking depth of focus.

We have blueberry fritters here! Tons of blueberries are grown just down the road from me. But yes, I have cut back on sweets, generally. I did have an apple fritters the moment I arrived at Pearson Int. in Toronto, though!

CFV16I and CFV16II by Nokton48, on Flickr

I've had this Hasselblad CFV16 Version 1, for a while and I'm really enjoying using it. From KEH along came a CFV16 Version II, very similar but with some upgrades. Since I have an Anniversary 500C/M with my CFV16 working good, tethered to Phocus too, I also figured it's a good idea to have a backup unit, these do not come up often IMO. Serial Number is 3DSR2120. Menu says Firmware Revision: 270. Files have a slight Magenta cast to them but camera is staring to wake up. Has a lot of small marks so it's been used, sensor is pristine. Anything I should do to bring this out of Coma? It's on my motorized EL/M, I got all the CFV16 accessories when I got the first back. I have a second CFV16 Acute Screen, so that saves me at least $600. Paid around $100 so Happy Happy.

EDIT: I returned the CFVII to KEH for a refund. Took a while but all is good. Merry Christmas! Just bought a "Ten Years on the Moon" second EL/M Body. My 500C/M is on it's way to Jim Kilroy for a full CLA. I wanted another backup so why not? another Anniversary Model Blad.

I had read that Magiflex uses the Chinese screens but has strict quality control so only the best ones get sold. Also, it is a shame that Hasselblad discontinued the Focusing Screen V. It is as good as the Acu-Matte for half the list price. Of course, now they sell for 4 times as much on e-bay.

I have three or four Stovepipe Blad Finders, earliest to the latest. Some purchased as low as $30. Also have a Hartblei Kiev 88 Groundglass Back that I -like- as a plain camera back viewer. And recently another groundglass one from the Orient that has a Microprism/Rangefinder screen built in it. I use them all depending on my setups.

Also! the Rubber Eyecups from the Kiev 60 and Kiev 88 Meter Prisms, fit all my Hasselblad Prisms and Finders. At one time I bought all I could find. If you wear eyeglasses you should find some for yourself. Merry Christmas!

Sometimes I buy accessories first, depending on what comes along.
