I much prefer the F80, simply because it's a true F series camera, and a step above the crude "N" line. The F80 is like 80% of an F100, in both size and features. The N80 is just the the weakling little brother of the N90. Honestly, I'd be ashamed to own one. 🙂

Lol. Not to mention that U.S. fighter jets are "F" this and that. Yes, the F80 is clearly better than the N80. I'm ashamed to own one now, too.

N was used for some Nikon models sold in the US while the same model sold elsewere has an F. Nothing to be ashamed of in owning a Nikon N camera.

The images I get out of my F80 are certainly superior to anything my N80 has ever produced, plus the F80 just feels better in my hand. 😁

I'm sure. I haven't run a roll of film through my N80, yet, and now I think "why bother"? Maybe if I hold the camera so that one of my fingers covers up the "N80" part I won't be a laughing stock. Either that or I will put a round red sticker over the "N80" and people will think it's a $10 Leica that I scored from some sap on Photrio. 😜

If more into reconnaissance planes, they make the U2 version (of N/F75). Anyone have one of those?? In black even!

Oh my gosh! I've heard about those, but have never seen one. They sell so fast and they're priced way out of reach for me. I did come across the Me2 Chinese knockoff last year, but didn't buy it.

Since the N/F80 is becoming the next Beanie Baby, one needs to get the whole group of them...

Perhaps the Black F80S has the most snob appeal; as good as owning Millennium Bear with tag errors...

Are these all the variations??

With all due respect, you are sadly mistaken, sir. The silver versions of these cameras were actually supplied free when you purchased the "real" ones. They were cheap throwaways that you could give to your three year old to play with, so they didn't wreck you real one. Sorta like the McDonald's happy meal with the free toy.

It's truly cringe-inducing when you occasionally see an adult try to use these things. I mean, c'mon, at least get a Holga.

If you think an F80 is 80% of an F100, an F5 is only 5% of an F100.

Ok so my experience today with an N80 and the battery level indicator.
Like pretty much every camera I’ve used that has it, it is pretty much useless. I did not keep track of how many films I shot through it w this set if Watson rechargeable Li batteries, but it went from full charge showing, to 1/2 charge, to one shot later dead!

Of course I had a spare set w me, but still those battery level indicators are frankly useless.

Again, different names for different markets (US, EU, Asia) don't spread rumors like this.
It's 100% exactly the same like my german F75, which i bought into 2003, and black of course.

Exactly, no rumor! They really do exist. (Black U2, that is).

It seems to be so hard for ppl here to read something properly, and understand it, at the same time, no offense.
Again, only for yourself: 1) I wrote that the F75 is called N75, U2 into other markets, means N75 into the US, and U2 into Asia(Japan) Therefore, of course the U2 exists, i've seen one also in my life,
but it's no special edition, especially not a reconnaissance editon, like you lied here before. Your orignal sentence was this "If more into reconnaissance planes, they make the U2 version (of N/F75)"
The US Spyplane has nothing to-do with the Japanese U2 Nikon, which is a F75/N75 into disguise.

And i also posted a link for this - and the F75 is no "forensic" or any other kind of special editon, like you wrote here before - therefore i just said, stop the rumors, it seems some ppl here are
less being honest, than they should be - no offense.

You would think the emoticons and "Lol's" would give this away, but some people have no sense of humor and/or jump into threads and only read the last post in them. They also probably think The Onion is real reporting.

As for lenses....there is a very big price difference between the 50mm f1.8 D and the 35mm F2 D. Is it worth it? If you could only have one, would you choose the 35mm over the 50mm? Do you notice any handling difference of the camera with either of these?

They're comparable in size and weight (48 vs 53mm, 150 vs 200g) but the 35mm will focus down to 25cm whereas the 50mm can only get as close as 45cm. It seems like a small thing but greatly effects the type of scenes you're able to compose with each lens.

When shooting near 1:1 macro I'll opt for the 50mm on an extension tube but always pick the 35mm for general walk-around / close-up photos over the 50.

Edit: The 50mm does just fine, however

I agree and the F5 weighs a lot more than the F100. I like you mathematical reference. To take it steps further, the F5 is a prime number and in the Fibonacci sequence while the F100 is neither.

This is completely misleading. For shame!

Everyone knows that the series 1 to 9 is rich in primes, while the series 10 to 100 is prime poor, in comparison. On the other hand, the "N" series represents "Non prime". It's just so obvious. 🙂

Bringing a light-hearted debate on the Honda 1100XX Blackbird forum here.....there were different colorways for the various model years in addition to colorways only available in certain markets. Silver and black were two of the colorways and the ongoing debate is which is faster.

So, since I have a silver XX....the black cameras are butch, for sure, but silver is faster. 2-3 stops faster at minimum. Strange but true. It means having to adjust ISO and other things accordingly since overexposure is a constant threat.
