Oh noes! Does it still work in its present state? It most probably would be cheaper to find a replacement camera than a part/getting it repaired/trying to find a replacement back.

I've seen that happen to a few of the F/N series cameras, which is why I lock mine in the center spot position and leave it alone.
Yes, it works if I use a toothpick to select 😆, but I don't mess with it anymore.
Buy a parts camera. Even if you did find the part, it might be upwards of $20.

I just checked and it seem that button is unique to the N80/F80. I also discovered another advantage of the N55...no electronics in the back to break; the N55 does not have this button on the back.
Thanks for your response. I'll just cover it with a little foam for the moment.

I was going to say, just cover it up with black tape once you have set it to the center spot position. Then it will just be like the professional F4 - where there is only one focus spot!

Dood, I love the 35 f2 D! I've attached samples earlier in this thread w the N80 - the ones with the seagulls. (page 8)

Mine unfortunately suffers from the common oily/sticky aperture issue, but I will get it fixed this week.

It won't suffer that way (before it happens), if you always keep the lens down, means store it into the opposite direction, or mounted on a camera inside the camera bag, whereas the lens always would face down.
Good luck with the repairs - i do like this lens much, therefore i've bought it back again, after missing it.

Enjoy! While you wait for the isopropyl alcohol to dry, imbibe a glass of dry white wine or a gin martini.
Now I know where the Sirius Glass comes into play. I always thought that it related to lenses. Silly me

This thread has 10,000 views, but I think social mind-control needs about 10,000,000 more to destabilize the market. So I'd say prices are not going to be influenced by any activity here.

I just accidentally bought a third black N80.

$17, boxed, including a Cosina/Vivitar 28-80 AF lens. For the price of one roll of Kodak Color Plus, you can have this amazing getup!

Ok, the whole reason I bought it is because I am now convinced that the ballyhooed (and rightly so) Nikon 28-80G is actually this Cosina lens. Except the Cosina version gets a metal lens mount! I spent the $17 in the interest of science to compare.

The Cosina/Vivitar lens it comes with:

N80’s seem to be commanding higher prices these: days. I bought one for $21 a couple weeks ago and just bought a backup body for $24 a few minutes ago. No broken latches on either.

I still like my N75’s, but I’m prouder of my N80’s if that makes sense.

This $17 with lens one is fully working, non sticky, even comes with batteries! The batteries may be 50% of the value!

Some people complain about ebay, saying no deals etc. I find it awesome, always get killer deals.

I get feeling prouder of the N80, having had an N75. It's because w the N75 you can see and feel what is missing - due to cost. But the N80? Everything is there and it feels great in hand!

Get three or four more, then you could wander around like a 90's version of Dennis Hopper in "Apocalypse Now"!
