I have a red filter for my Rolleiflex. When do I use it?

The sky was as blue as it could be, also looking Northish. I'll try exposing properly one more time on the next roll.

It might have a lot to do with where you are. Is Pittburgh what they call the "rust belt" i.e. low lying, heavily industrialised atmosphere?

I saw a scan of a neg/print taken somewhere in the U.S. which I think was clear air in mountainous territory. The taker had used a light yellow and had achieved a black sky the likes of which I can barely manage with IR film:sad:

So, I think I'll use 400 BW film and expose it at 75-50 when using this filter.

Yes, you can set the meter to 50 ASA, but what you are doing is filter compensation and not exposing the film at 50 ASA. That's a big difference, and good to remember.

Well said. That is a good point to remember. It is a three f/stop correction.
