Since 2013 I have been converting from Rollei SL3003 System to Nikon AF System. Not really 'converting' per say, as I have not stopped using the Rollei lenses and bodies. But it is nice to have newer optics and AF cameras that are more convenient to use.

Anyway, I like the TTL flash capacity of all my Nikon bodies and use flash in low light. However, I'd like to do more available light photography.

In my Rollei system I have a 35/1.4 for low light. I also have some 50/1.4 Planars, but almost never use 50mm focal length.

So, I was looking at 1.4 AF Nikkor lenses.

These were some of the Autofocus possibilities:

Nikkor AF-S 50/1.4
I almost never use 50mm focal length, so this lens would sit unused.
Nikkor AF-S 35/1.4
Looking very closely at this one. I have the 35/2, is the extra stop worth it? I do already have the Rollei 35/1.4
Nikkor AF-S 28/1.4
This would be nice, but I already have the 28/1.8.
Nikkor AF-S 24/1.4
In the end this is the one I choose. I had been reading people getting good results using this lens wide open without compromising depth of field due to the short focal length. I do have the 24/2.8 and will still use that due to its compact size. The 24/1.4 is big and heavy.

Nikkor AF-S 24/1.4 Compatibility:

Looks like I can use this on all my bodies except the N55. With the N55, the meter still works, and the AF focus indicator work. One just has to manually focus.

N55 - No AF
N75 - yes
N80 - yes
F100 - yes
F6 - yes
