I have recently joined photrio? because I needed to ask a question... I prefer to lurk and look at random threads but there came the urgent need to fix a problem... I recently got into film photography when my friend got a Bronica ETRS for free and we shot a few rolls of film. I did not have the luck to get such a nice camera for free, but when I was setting up my darkroom I did get quite a deal for some equipment. (Omega Super Chromega D Dichroic II with what I believe is a D5 base, several enlarging lenses, easel, print washer, grain magnifier, random odds and ends for $400) somewhat overpriced, I only came for the enlarger but walked out with everything else haha. Got a nice Zorki 4 Russian rangefinder, 40 rolls of Fuji C200 film, everything else for my darkroom, and all for under $1000! I have to say I think film photography is much more rewarding than digital photography, it is cheaper (40 rolls will last me forever I went to Canada and only used 6 haha) and more fun with a 50 year old crappy camera with an over tightened shutter and a scratched lens. I have had great experiences with my camera, its built like a brick and there is a very satisfying swoosh when you press the shutter. I gave up on digital after an SD card got corrupted with 500ish amazing pictures.... well sorry for the long ramble I just typed some random stuff... This is a very nice community, better than what we have down here in Houston as far as I know.. Great help. I'm fine down here but I can't use my darkroom right now because we need to conserve water.. I shoot mostly landscapes (In color because I don't have the time to research 40 different developers and like a million different films) Cheap film and cameras give amazing pictures, haven't printed many of them and I don't own a scanner so I can't show them to you guys to critique hah. Is subscribing worth it?

I just typed some random stuff...

If I might make a suggestion: Try to assemble your post in paragraphs rather than a block of text as you have. It's pretty much unreadable as it is and I gave up trying to follow what you were saying.

Welcome to the forum, I believe subscribing is worth it, mostly because of the community here.
Others join for the image sharing and classifieds.

I think printing color is going to be a lot harder than printing b&w, you don't need 40 developers
and a million films to get started in b&w, try HP5 and D76, anyone can use those, someone will
immediately suggest something else, but start simple, work with one film/dev combo until you've
got good results [and know why].

Welcome. As you see, film photography is fun.

The site is worth subscribing to because without sufficient subscribers, the site will cease to exist.

Also, as pdeeh stated, formatting your text into paragraphs will make it more readable.

Welcome to Photrio.

You have a wonderful enlarger, the same as I have.

Hello Young He,
Welcome to Photrio.... from Houston-ish! Actually, there is an amazing community of photographers all around you--both digital AND film. Visit Houston Center for Photography and Fotofest for starters. Galleries like Catherine Couterier, Galveston Arts Center, Box 13 Artspace, and the college galleries also regularly show photographic work. Go to the openings and talk to people. Several local colleges and community colleges still teach darkroom (I should know--I'm one of the instructors!). There are also several Houston-area photographers on this forum you could meet up with. And there are photo clubs. Houston has one of the most fantastic and supportive photo communities anywhere.

As far as a water shortage... I think Harvey just took care of that..... (hope you stayed safe and dry!!!!)

Houston also has lots of places to take your film for scanning. Aker Imaging, Humble Camera, and PhotoSource for starters.

And yes, the subscription is worth it... because that is what allows Sean to keep this place running! (and the extra perks, of course!)
