How well does Ferrania ORTO do in the darkroom ?

I wish I could answer that for you but that won't happen for months, it seems...

FINALLY got my hands on some. I played around with it and compared it to an orthochromatic film that I am familiar with, Ilford Ortho 80. I've never walked around with two K1000's around my neck before!

Now that you've stopped laughing, maybe you can provide links to Ferrania's claim that they can/will produce E-6 film far superior to Fuji.

Informative video as always, Andy. Apart from the portrait shot where I felt the Ilford Ortho won narrowly ( but see my 3rd para comments) I think that on balance I preferred Orto 50. In the first sunlight scene with no filter and to a lesser extent with the other filters it was as if the sun became overcast in the Ilford shots. In some of the no filter shots the Ortho won just on balance but on others it was much of a muchness Overall the green filter gave better shots than the yellow with both films but was better with green in the Orto shots than Ilford Ortho

Frankly Orto's rendering of red was darker in the fruit shot despite it being from what you say only orthopan as compared to the Ilford's pure ortho. However I could see no real difference in either film's rendition of the red square on the colourchecker. Is there a clear difference in the two spectral curves or was it just the extra contrast in Orto than made the red look darker

Like you I wonder if say 32 speed for the Orto might not change how much detail there is in the shadows where Ilford Ortho won this time

I'm glad to see someone else using the Barry Thornton two bath with Ferrania's films. I found it to be the developer for any EI. Nice work, Andrew and a great video.

Thanks, Scott. I believe it was your initial posts about P30 and Thornton's Two-Bath that got me interested in it.

They have never ever made that claim.
Instead they have said they will try to make an ISO 100 chrome film similar to the latest Ferrania offering.

and it that time their was a risk that since ektachrome was not available and fuji slide film plans were uncertian, that we would be very glad to have a clone of "Scotch Chrome" Since we do have a viable source of Ektachrome 100D they are working instead on Niche films while they get their Finishing operations fully running. Once they can convert and pack any arbitrary film, then they can expand the range. they are doing amazing with a very small crew.
