BTW: In that thread there are plenty comments on tricks on other films/methods - which I haven't got any time to try.

I think what we're seeing from these excellent examples is that Big Grain is not that hard to get. Big Grain that looks real good is a different matter though. The shot of Huss's has the sort of all-over grain that holds the picture together. It's not distracting, it's actually an integral part of the pic.

There's Tri-X in my Pentax, and the plan is to soup it 1:25 in Rodinal. That can give that sort of all-over grain, but Delta 3200 sure looks like a good way to go too. Nice grain structure.

What helps that image is the really heavy fog. It adds density.
