Assuming it goes into production, and makes it to the USA, what do you think the street price of the new Fuji folder will be?

$725 street price.

But at $500, I'd buy two.

I would be thrilled and amazed if this camera comes to the USA at a price of $725.

I too, would buy two.

I punched in at the $700-$900 price point - but I'd love to see them come in a bit lower.

Provided the quality is "up to snuff". On a Q to P scale - I'd want Q.

Realistically, how many times more (duh, none) are we going to see a new MF film camera of any kind - much less a 6x7 folder?

So, Fuji, make it; but make it to last; without making it into some kind of German brick sh*thouse that will last longer than most of us will live and none of us can afford!

I figure in the $700-$900 range, but even higher with the optional digital back!

Joe

I do think it will be $1500 so....

I pledge to buy Fuji film with every dollar under that price.
Meaning, if the camera is $1000, I will buy $500 worth of film
when I purchase the camera.

I think David has the right idea on here, but I can only spend $1000 and I'm hoping for $750. So Fuji, you've got a $250 film order waiting. Just get me a $750 6x7 folder. In black, please. :D

Doesn't look heavy on automation; perhaps at the price of an good "intro" LF body? Say, around $800? That's my guess.

Hopefully under the $1,000 mark. If it's anymore it'll simply be out of my range and I'll have to opt for a used GW690 instead.

So I'm hoping/passing messages via ESP to Fuji for it to be $800-1,000.

is it confirmed that it is a folder????

Yeah, it's clearly a rangefinding folder, there are some picture links on the other threads.

Super Cool! but....$750???? For that?

as the old machinist used to rubber stamp on some of my (outrageous designs)... "NFW".

I'd be willing to go...maybe $400. $500 if it has aperature priority auto exposure.....

$1000 Pffffft! Seriously?

I'm hedging my bets to the low side in hopes of being able to convince myself it's affordable. If I use the last of the high end Polaroid folders as a comparison point, and escalate from 1976 to 2008, I get $740. But some technologies have gone down sharply (including, for example, 35mm SLRs), and others up, so I don't know how meaningful that is. And of course projected sales will significantly affect the price.

In the photos, it looks like PLASTIC!

It's gotta be affordabe. The market is small as it is. They won't have a chance if the price is anything short of an outright bargain.

I would actually say the opposite. People don't really buy things they need, they buy things they want. I am a believer that the way to market any new film camera is in two modes:
  1. Lomo and ToyCameras to the hip crowd
  2. High End Leica's, Hasselblad's, etc... in the same leagues as other famous fashion brands
Yes, fashion. Film cameras, in my view should be marketed as a high end, chic, fashion just like a Vuitton accessory, Porsche, etc... Only difference is that they produce high end, high quality products - real photographic gelatin silver prints or alternative process prints.

From the posts I have read on APUG the so called existing small market buys as cheap and used as possible anyway, for the most part. There is one thing I do know about business, you can't sell a lot of things to cheap folks. It isn't worth the effort.

Well, I have already informad my girlfriend (probably wife by the time the camera is out) in a "decisive tone" that I will get it independetly of the cost - which I have estimated to ~ 1500 euro. So if it comes out at $ 750 I will have both - camera and happy wife ! :D

I hope Fuji will find a reasonable compromise between price versus quality/functionality. Plastic toy for $400 wich will never stay aligned with a dim viefinder and poor lightmeter has limited sense. I hope for well done reliable metal camera that will last long years and many travels. Still - it does not have to cost as much as Leica. Quality in the league somewhere between Bessa R3A - to - Zeiss ZM would be more than enough

i think it will be over 900$, and that is way more than i can afford

Agree

I would hope they keep the price as far down as possible. While the case is made here for low end stuff and high end stuff, with a 300-500 dollar camera Fuji could outright own the entire middle segment. There are many who have purchased the "toy" 120 cameras over the last few years who would gladly move up to a real camera, and with a mid-priced camera, I am sure there are many digital-heads that would want to get into film a little bit or back into film without having to pay an arm and a leg or struggle with the idiosyncrasies of 30 and 40 year old film equipment.

I don't care for the cost I'de buy one simply in show of support for Fuji making a film camera! YAY to Fuji!!!!!

I say about the same price as an entry-level DSLR
$750-900
I don't think it would be too much higher ..to me looks fairly basic
Don't believe they'd sell something so "NEW" at a lower price than their prosumer digital cameras -$400-700

$1500 and I'd say it's overpriced

Not something I'd want, though.
