How many Nikons?

As of a couple of weeks ago, my FG and F601 are now joined by two Fs and a Nikkormat.

The non-P&S gear was from memory, the P&S stuff, I did have to consult the Braczko book, The Complete Nikon System, for information. Some of his dates for P&S camera introduction were off, since I remembered stuff being introduced later than what he says.

I've discovered that if I have too much gear, I won't do much shooting. Deciding which body, and which lens to go with on a certain day can be somewhat daunting when you have more than 3-4 choices, body-wise.

I have two. An F2S and a D40. Both share the same legacy lenses. The D40 gives a 'tele boost' of about 50% - so an 85mm 35mm format lens is more like a 130mm equivalent in the D40

My father reckoned that he could remember every telephone number he had ever dialed and there was a teacher at school who would learn the whole of the local bus timetable just for a mental exercise.

I understand perfectly. In 1991, I sold my Plymouth Roadrunner vin# RM21NOA184669, to buy a Harley Sportster #64XLCH4737. I looked at a Pan-Shovel #67FLH3013, but settled on the Sportster..

LOL, good to know I'm not the only one.

Steve, I'm that bad. Not with the phone numbers, but with the bus routes. That was one of my interests when I was a kid. Had every Metro transit route memorized back in the mid-late 1980's.

Hmm...better change the inventory. Since posting of June last...add another F2AS (1977, black body) as of Wednesday, an F5 as of the end of November and an F2A (1980, chrome) as of late August. Think it's time for a little house-cleaning...:confused:

I can't believe I've got six of the things.

FM, FE, F2, F2A, F3HP, F4s.......at this point in time.

I mainly use the F3HP. For me, the F3HP, is the most versatile useful 35mm camera I own.

An addendum: I did, however, finally manage to give away both the F4S (it took two attempts) and the regular F3 (to a colleague at work whom I am trying to convince of the many virtues of film photography), so I don't feel all that guilty about my recent acquisitions. That said, I keep casting glances at my F2 parts bodies, an MD3/MB1 combo that I recently found when housecleaning, as well as assortment of other F2 accessories (Nikon cable releases, flash couplers, an MR3 adapter and a few other odds and ends...) and wondering if it may be past time for a sweep of things I don't use/need...:munch:

careful what you post for serial numbers, my uncles CH was stolen and even though the statute of limitations ran out so the bike could be legaly titled we still comb the net and when we find it we're taking it back

I have an N8008s (same as F801s). I love it that nobody seems to like these bodies, because it means I can buy them for $40 on keh. I've had an F4 and F100; the F801 is cheaper feeling but it's also lighter, has essentially the same features, and handles more like one of the Manual Focus bodies.

Uh...just added another F3HP/MD4 combo this am. The unit looks like it has spent most of its life thus far sitting locked away in a cabinet somewhere, perhaps taken out once and a while to be admired. I think I will "break it in" on New Years' Day over on the Island. So, with that in mind, a housecleaning of various F2 parts and accessories will definitely be forthcoming...

Bought an FE in late 1979 and an F2A in early 1980. Still have them. I've also have a Nikkormat FT3 and a Nikon EL2. Have gone back and forth on selling the EL2, which is a larger, heavier version of the EL2 and is a real battery pig.

Too Many

I dont know how many is too many but I do use them all in regular rotation depending on mood or capabilities. Here we go:

FG, EM, FE x 2, FM, FM2n, FE2, FA, F2, F3, F4, F5, N90s x 2, N80 x 2, F100, N8008s, D5100, D7000, D600, L35AF

That's 22 by my count. Hey, is my wife going to see this??
