ekekm: "I dumped all my Leica M stuff ... too heavy and the offensive elitism of some Leica users sort of turned me off on the brand. I still have a IIIf with a Summitar."

See? Can't let it go can you? You just had to tell. ;¬)

2 M/F Mamiya
2 SLR Canon
1 35mm compact Minox
1 R/F Contax 2
1 Voigtlander Vito B

1 Rangefinder: Good 'ole Argus brick that was in great shape

Would like:
MF/LF Graflex, or build my own

Well I'm comming at this the other way around where I'm comming back to film from a digital hiatus of six years. I wish I had not sold off my minolta film system of one body (and six lenses) and my three nikons when the digital fever first hit ...but oh well that is life, you make mistakes.

Now a spur of the moment F100 purchase showed me what it was I was missing from the hobby of photography. I added to my one film body a Medium format Mamiya 645 so that brings it to two - oh and the never used film rebel .... does that count as a camera? :D

Three film and three digital then. But seeing Karls collection and shane's numbers helps me shed the logical part that says "why more than one". When I get over the guilt ... I'm going to go out and get more film bodies over time. There is another F100 on the list for when you are mid way through a roll and need a different film. A f6 because that is what I really want. I've got to find out what the fuss is about rangefinders so I've already started reading about the Zeis Ikon system and (ouch) Leica.

So I can see an addiction coming on. But life is short, right .... and addiction isn't always bad, right? Right?

35mm cameras? Well - umm - 2 Welta Weltis, one Vito CL, one Bessa-L, one Bessa-T, one FED-2, one Pentax MZ5n, one Stereo Realist. That's it - unless I count one Bronica ETRS with 135W back...

That's only 8 or 9!

All right - I've counted the MF cameras now: One SLR, one TLR, 8 folders.

I've confessed to 14 LF and plate cameras before.

So the "grand total" is 32. Don't tell my wife!

For 35mm, I own two. A Canon EOS Elan II and a Canon EOS 3. I nave no desire to buy any more. They do everything I need/want them to do.

2 Mamiya 330s (MF), 1 Nesbitt 5x4 and a Pentax LX.Oh how inadequate I feel about the size of my collection:smile:....

Minolta manual focus - (2) X-700; X-570; xD-5; XD-11; XG-1;
Rangefinders- Vitomatic II; Yashica Lynx; Olympus XA; Olympus Stylus; Fed 5
Medium Format - Mamiya 645; 645J
Nikon Autofocus - F4; F100
Toy Cameras - 3

I own six with number seven enroute to my home right now.
Nikon N90s
Nikon F3HP
Hasselblad 501c
2 Ikonta folders, 6x6 and 6x9
Holga
and a Canon QL17 GIII that should be arriving any day:D

The number of cameras should not exceed three-one main workhorse and other two stand-byes for changing over to prime or desired focal-length zooms while shooting or to accommodate weight of gear in backpack while travelling and shooting either in 35 mm or medium formats otherwise the numbers become difficult to maintiain and would become more of a fad or collectors items-jkairvar

Three? Three? Are you kidding me? That would be like having three teeth!:D

(I can see over a dozen, just from where I'm sitting. All are users, and have been used at some point in time in the about the last six months)

(Oh, except that one-it needs a little repair I haven't gotten around to...)

Enough

maybe someone could come up with a formula for the appropriate number of cameras to own ?LOL:smile:
As a rule of thumb Black Dog, you know you have enough when your bank statements have red writing on them, and they bounce your cheques.

35mm: Nikon FM2n, 6006, F100
645: Mamiya Super
6x6: Mamiya C330
LF: Canham 8x10 wood
Digital: Canon G1, Palm Treo 650

Only the FM2n, F100 and the Super have seen significant use in the past 6 mos.

cameras++ ?

Sometimes c training comes through. :D

Does that mean you have built an inventory application?

I learned c, not c++. But it seems like every time I "c" a camera, I have one more.

Not many!

35mm- Kiev 4a, Yashica J
MF- Hasselblad 500, Carl Zeiss Ercona 6x9 folder

That`s it:D

Cheers

André

Not enough!
35mm; 2x EOS 500, Fuji STX-2, access to a Chinon CM-4
MF; Mamiya 645
LF Arca-Swiss 5x4 (currently being rebuilt, I picked it up as scrap)
Digital; EOS 300D, GR Digital

I think I have (more than) enough cameras to satisfy any real need, but of course, I WANT more!
I'd quite like a TLR of some kind, at some point, but I think a longer lens for the 645 will have to come first.

35mm: 6
Canon Prima AS1
Nikon: Nikormat FT3, FM, FE2, F90X
Zeiss: Ikonta 422, I think
MF: 3
Holga
AGFA Clack
Pentax 6X7
+ some crappy ones not worth mentioning.
Cheers
Søren

I'm not a collector, all my cameras are for using. Sometimes I'll buy one because it seems to be interesting to use & I want to find out if I'll like shooting with it. There are some cameras that I used a lot years ago but now get little use so I'll sell a couple of them soon.

Leica M6 with 35mm f2 (I use this a lot)
Nikon 28ti (use this a lot)
Olympus SPN (good camera & interesting design, use occasionally)
EOS 5 (used to use it a lot)
EOS 3 (bought 2nd hand to replace the 5 but I prefer the controls on the 5)
Holga (use sporadically but I like the look it gives)
Rollei 6008 professional (used it a lot but haven't touched it for years)
Fuji GA 645zi (great camera - I should use it more)
Polaroid 600 (I like the Polaroid look)

I'm thinking I might sell the Rollei & buy a 45 camera as I would love to try that format. I'm thinking about a Linhof. Looks like I'll have a chance to borrow some Sinars too.
