It feels weird indeed, but it's well usable and the results are a BIG advantage seen sharpness and contrast.

I managed to get my hands on both glass lenses. I re-sold the 114mm, no special interest for me, but I kept the 90mm. If you can live with the shutter speeds and only 2 apertures, it's a small and still lightweight 6x12 system, automatic exposure is reliable and keeps it simple and fast. A small tripod is sufficient. A description of the whole system is here https://www.plastikcam.com/lomo_belair.htm Keep the camera resting on its back during transport, not stressing the locking system. Even hand held photos are well possible. The results are fine.

If you want a wider angle and a system that feels ridgid, I would recommend a Cambo and a 6x12 back. But that's much more expensive https://www.oddcameras.com/cambo_wide_470.htm ....

I use a Crown Graphic. I want to print 70mm and 65mm wide inserts to use a sheet film in film holders. It should do something similar to 7 x 12 more or less. Ideally, I widen the gate of a 70mm graflok back (that typically do 6x7) to something like 7x12. Thank there's mechanical changes to do as winding once, won't move enough film forward anymore.

That's why the Belair offers a great way to do multiple medium formats and 35mm in wide panorama.
