I think they destroyed the parts and molds for avoiding any competitors to re-start the business.
Fabrication + marketing + distribution for re-opening the market would require a lot of fundings.

As I stated in post #7 there is no sign of any factory closed or tools destroyed. (Maybe though meanwhile more news was heard by others.)

In case that destruction should be the case, what makes this thing complicated then is that the guy who in the past produced the Holga is now behind that Digital Holga project.

There is a link on this thread - after your post #7 - that says officially the factory is closed and all the tools are destroyed.

That is about the information that started this thread. At least concerning the factory there is no hint at all that it is true.
Concerning the information on the tools, ther then would be the peculiarity I hinted at above.

If we could survive the demise of Kodak film cameras, I think we will be able to survive the demise of Holga

And the Holga is back! Somebody did buy the molds and the new ones are projected to start selling at Freestyle. According to a Facebook post by Randy Smith, they will start selling in June of this year.
Randy,

Here's the shareable info:

- A new factory is making Holgas
- We received & approved a sample and placed an order
- We'll only have a couple thousand cameras in the initial run
- We may add to the run, if we sell out of pre-orders
- Future receipts depend on demand
- Other models possible, but quantity and pricing are a concern
- New price for 120N is $39.99 each, which still keeps it as the least expensive (non-used) 120 camera around.

Thanks for the help,
