Hello everyone,

Lately I've been getting obsessed with film photography, so I thought I'd check this forum out

Little about me...my name is Tamas, I'm 28 yrs old and I live on Vancouver Island (split my time between Victoria and Nanaimo).

I started shooting with a Smena 8 (Soviet camera) when I was around 7, then graduated up to my dad's old Zenit 12 XP (still have it!) that I haven't shot with since high school (11 years ago).

I got really into digital photography and still love that side of the art (shot news for years, weddings, houses, for money and everything else for pleasure), but then somehow I got hooked on film again...here's my current film collection (been really into the Canon FD stuff the past month or so):

Canon AE-1 original
Canon AE-1 Program
FD Canon 50 1.4 w/ original hood/caps
FD Canon 28 2.8 w/ original caps
FD Canon 80-200 f4 w/ original caps/built-in hood
FD Tamron 28-80
Powerwinder A (x2)
Extra focusing screen

My other film gear includes:
Ansco Anscoset (love this guy!)
Canon Canonet 28 with Canolite D flash
Zenit 12 XP with a bunch of lenses
Zenit E
Ricoh XR-P Multiprogram with Rikenon 50 f2 (selling it).

I love the machines every bit as much as I love the art of photography...it's kind of nice handling a 50-year old camera that still works and seeing all the details that have been lost over the decades.

Welcome, I am fairly new here as well and from the island as well. The AE-1 was the first camera I bought with my own money, many fond memories. I changed to nikon FE2 a long time ago and am still shooting with it.

I started out as a Minolta boy, way back in the 70's, with the XE-7.
But 96 % of the population had an AE-1 by 1978.
The TV commercials were nonstop for that camera.

Ron: That sounds like heaven to me haha...I don't know why but for years I've loved the AE-1s. To me they're EXACTLY what a 35mm should look and feel like. I finally found an AE-1P cheap about a month ago and jumped on it...and then quickly developed an addiction to the stuff and bought up every bargain-priced piece of gear I could find...now I'm very happy with my collection...I'm thinking of shooting colour with the AE-1P and trying my hand at IR with the AE-1 original.

A hello from the the the mainland. And Yes I am also a huge Canon fan. Love my FDs my FLs and my EFs. Have a very comfortable collection of bodies to go with the lenses. Have received MANY good deals with the members here. AND it almost looks like summer weather here

ugh...lucky you, we've had nothing but crap (well...we had 1.5 days of decent, and then hail today)...so much for that haha...

This bad weather sucks not only because I can't (or don't feel like) going out shooting, but also because I spend my spare time cruising websites for more gear...there's only so much more bad weather my bank account can take!
