Hi!

I've been using this forum for a long time as a reference, and now I think it's time to start contributing a little more. I started film photography about 2 years ago when I received my dad's old 35mm Nikon F3. Since then, I've been slowly accumulating both equipment and experience during my free time. Currently, I'm shooting with the same Nikon F3 and a Mamiya 645 pro tl medium format. In addition, I make my own enlargements in my small manhattan apartment on an Omega B8.

During the workday I do research in ultrasound imaging as a PhD student. I guess you could say I'm devoting my life to several different types of imaging....

I'm looking forward to becoming a more active contributing member!

Hi Stan and welcome to the group. You will find some amazing knowledgable people here that can answer basically any question you have.

Welcome to APUG , Stan.

Our member Bob Crowley is an expert on medical imaging with ultrasound also. He developed tiny sensor for imaging in heart and he says he was very successful. He says all microphone experts came from medical imaging and he developed a nanomaterial for ribbon microphones and Shure invested and using 30 years may be more.
I follow his blogs especially microphonium. I discovered there how much 70s symphonic rock groups depends on the quality of ribbon microphones especially when the microphone made an angle with amp.
Sounds goes harmonics rich and more beatiful.

And I read lens design have a similar trick , Leica caliber the lens to film plane angles and their harmonics and give the famous Leica feel.

I think selling your F3 and switching to Leica will open new gates to see the difference. Sound perfect mixing and visual perfect mixing are the same.

Best ,

Umut
