Hi Guys,

I first got into shooting film photography about a year ago, a friend sold me a Lomo LC-A+, I had great fun with it for about 4 months, but quickly yearned for "more".

I purchased an Asahi Pentax k1000 body and a Pentax SMC M 50mm f1.7 lens, and have been trying to learn ever since (with varying degrees of success).

My opinions/ thoughts (at present) are sadly driven by ignornace (due to a lack of knowledge/ experience). I have never extensively shot with digital photography as it never appealed to me. I was drawn in by the grain of Film photos, and their general "warmth", I never got excited by a digital photo (probably due to a lack of exposure to decent photography), but when I saw a friends photos taken with old SLR (not sure which), it was the first time I really became enthusiastic about photography and has created a "monster" which I'm sure will run catastrophically out of control and my knowledge base grows.

Anyway enough of my inane ramblings, I look forward to participating in this forum, and tapping into the compendium of knowledge contained here.

Steve

As Mike said, you are in the right place. Welcome from Melbourne, Australia, to the best analog photography website in the history of the universe.

Welcome, Steven, from just (ish) outside Washington, DC.

Steven - hello and welcome to APUG from western New England.

Welcome, Steve. I think it's interesting that it was a Lomo that got you into film photography. I wonder how many other people have done the same thing? Anyway, welcome to APUG. I think you'll enjoy the site.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys.

I think for me, being new to photography, the automatic features of the LC-A was appealing, decent film photos with little effort. But after time I developed a thirst to be able to manually "manipulate" the photos.
