Hey there, the name's nightbringer (as many of you can see ). I first got into photography using my dad's old 35mm cameras, made the jump to digital, and a year later jumped back to film with the procurement of a Nikon F100. I've been getting stuck into the darkroom aspect of it a bit more recently, learning how to develop my own film and scan it.

I've been shooting B&W and slide film, but am also currently drooling over some of the medium format cameras around.

I look forward to many interesting and informative discussions about the art of analogue photography with all of you

I <3 the F100, got 2 of them! Try and get a chance to shoot the new Portra 400. It's outrageously flexible film and looks GREAT off 35mm.

If you have it scanned, try to get it scanned off a Fuji Frontier scanner, Noristu's tend to flatten things out alot and clip highlights any chance they get.

Keep the scanner AND buy lots of darkroom gear!

Use the scanner as a digital proofing and preview system.
Scan the negatives. Edit, crop and play with them on your screen. Make digital printouts and show them to other people to see what they think. Post your scans on Flickr.com and see which ones get the most hits or comments.

There are several analog/traditional gropus on Flickr which accept ONLY film photos. If I'm not mistaken, there's one for APUG members too: http://www.flickr.com/groups/analogue_photo/

Then, when you have sorted out the best photos and decided what you want to see for real, you can head to the darkroom and go nuts.

It saves on paper and chems if you do it this way.

Just because we're analog photo people doesn't mean we can't use computers to our advantage!

Steve, I have the feeling that one of these days you're going to see "loose" misused one time too many and completely lose it!
Not that I'd blame you...

I loosed my scanner and all it did was sit there.

I plan to get into printing soon, I just got back some developed velvia and it reminds me why I love shooting film so much - that feeling you get when you open it up to see if you got awesome shots or horrible shots. When they turn out awesome it's like you just had your own little Christmas surprise XD
