I've been poking around for a couple months and I think it's about time to introduce myself. I'm Kuyler McComas, a 17 year old photographer from Milton, West Virginia in the United States. As egotistical as it seems to make a thread just to introduce myself, everyone else does it too, so I guess it's okay!

I've been enjoying photography since I was a little kid - my grandpa had great books of photography and always had the Ansel Adams calendars, too. I personally started photography the backwards way; I really like to mess with computers, and my drive to create something on the computer lead to permanently borrowing my parents' digital camera when I was about twelve.

My love for film grew out of necessity. A few years ago I needed to do some star trail photography and my D40x couldn't expose for more than 30 minutes. I bought a Nikon n6006 three years ago and immediately fell in love with film. And I've still never shot any good star trails.

I still shoot a good amount of digital. As a high-schooler, I'm in situations where I have to turn shots out really quickly, whether for the newspaper or yearbook or whatever. But my passion is for film.

I've really enjoyed the conversations I've read here so far. I love to learn about anything related to something I love so much.

Definitely glad to be here. Thanks everybody! I hope I can be of some benefit to the community or at least show someone that film is still the gold (silver  ) standard.

I am in love. I've got GAS bad and close to fifty undeveloped rolls of film. It's a serious addiction in my life. Thanks for the welcome into the community.

Welcome to APUGland:D

Most of it's garbage anyway. Anything wrong with sending the cheap stuff off to Clark's? I'm not concerned with prints, I'll have those made later if I need to.

I usually send my slides and good stuff to Dwayne's. No good labs within a hundred miles.

As far as good scenery, there's a ton in the eastern part of the state, but none over on my side. Just a bunch of interstate cutting up some squatty hills and ugly little towns with meth problems. Makes for great street photography, though! I'd love a trip the DC way though.

meth...

Anyways, I was born in WV and my mom still has a house there. I get down there a couple times a year and try to take pictures. I think it's pretty.

There are parts of the state that are absolutely gorgeous. I love the Potomac region.

Crystal meth is definitely a problem around here. But that's a different story for a different day.

Kuyman - hello and welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts.

Hi, Kuyler. I'm from Milton, Delaware. Gotta love being from a town that had a mill.

Welcome to APUG.

Welcome, from near Washington, DC

Welcome to the forum from Norway. It's great to see young people keeping an interest in photography and in analogue photography in particular.

I think many of us started around your age and many of us are "slightly" older than that now :smile:o), so there's a wealth of experience and knowledge at your fingertips!

Mike

Hey there, Kuyler! Welcome to APUG from another WV native. Lots of great information and help to be found here.
