I sure did and I'm gonna take up on that offer! This community is starting to pay off already :D

Hope you get lucky some day too (Luckily in a cheap/free enlarger, not a closing photo store)

Markus

I think my problem is that I'm too shy to even talk to people in person... much less make them realize I like photography. So if anyone wanted to donate anything, they wouldn't pick me

But who knows!

I have no idea what that means, but I'll try!
Oh, you innocent, unspoiled, beautiful creature, I envy you, for I have gazed upon the wretchedness of the APUG Abyss and what I saw has deeply scarred me. Please continue to be ignorant of that most foul entity and live your life in peace and happiness, walking on rose pedals and all that.
(you don't have to reply to every single post, you know. )

Yeah, I know... but it's Friday night and I'm home, so what's a girl to do?
Now, that's downright criminal.
At least if you had a darkroom...
But I'll stop here otherwise the others will accuse me of flirting with you.

Hi and welcome to APUG!
We live a bit close, and the situation of film photography is similar. No free enlargers here (haven't looked for one seriously, though).

Same here.

Welcome Mariana, from another female Apugger!

Good luck with finding an enlarger -- I'm currently looking for one here in Japan, there are lots of expensive ones (at least $1500 and up) but not so many cheap ones. I'll be doing a two-part darkroom (enlarger in one room, developing in the bathroom) once I get one. At the very least, start developing your own film, and find a community darkroom/class where you can do your own printing. I did that in France at a local community center by taking a darkroom class (it was very cheap) -- after a while the instructor realized I knew what I was doing and I had free access to use it whenever I wanted outside of any classes running there. In any event, good luck!

Hey,

we are just side by side, arent we? Which city are you from?

I see in your profile that you like aviation... I work for the Portuguese airline company TAP...

It seems that analog photography classes are getting less and less frequent... Very few places still have darkrooms for teaching. It's sad...

I'll do my best though! Thank you for the welcome

And welcome from the south west coast of British Columbia, Canada

Olá Mariana e seja muito bem-vinda a esta fantástica comunidade.

Be patient, sometimes when one find the right places, things start happening naturally, a bit like magic.

Have fun!

Obrigada, André

I'm sure everything will fall into place, eventually... Good things come for those who wait

Why did you trade sunny Portugal for cold Finland?

Hello Mariana - I am in the Boston area, and miss having a darkroom - between my boyfriend and myself we have 4 enlargers but the landlord won't let us build what we need in the basement  - so I hope you can find a place to work. I have a Canon A-1 and a few lenses, but I really love my 50 mm 1.4. Glad you found APUG, it is a wonderful community.

Hey sionnac,

I've got a darkroom set up in the bathroom. My Omega B-22 is on a folding card table and the table has enough room to keep other things on it like the timer, negatives and a couple of other things. I use 8/10 or 11/14 trays and there is enough room on the counter with the sink to set three up. I wash the prints in the kitchen sink. If I use 16/20 trays I gotta use the floor!

It works for me. Hope it may help you!

Hi sionnac,

my bathroom has the potential space for a darkroom, but for some reason it doesn't even have an electrical outlet ... I guess for now it doesn't matter, 'cause I don't have an enlarger  I can do the developing there though...

I hope that, in the futute, we can both find darkroom friendly spaces

I have a wall plug in the wall just 3 feet outside my bathroom darkroom. A good extension cord fed under the door doubled the number of electrical outlets available to me, and in a pinch would be all that I would need.

Hello and welcome Mariana!

Your English was just fine to me.

(My Portugese is something to behold :surprised: )
