So when Aviphot 200 stock is used up, no more Rollei Superpan 200, Rollei Retro 400s, Rollei Infrared 400, Silberra Pan 160 / Ultima 160, Silberra Pan 100 / Ultima 100, CatLabs 320 Pro and JCH Street Pan?
And those who reported their test results publicly were massively attacked and bashed by Bellamy Hunt for telling the truth.
Because Hunt has told to his customers the marketing fairy tale that the film was "freshly produced" and "exclusively for him", and has "never been on the market". All that nonsense to fool his customers and to hide the scam that it was just old, discontinued, expired film offered at insane high price.
And when this first leftover stock was sold, he just switched to Aviphot Pan 200. Of course without any information to his customers. And with the same ridiculous high price (much higher than all other Aviphot Pan 200 repackaged offerings).
This was really a revelation for me, haha. I have only really used Rollei IR, but it is interesting to note that it is available for less in other packaging. Is Aviphot 200 available in 4x5 and/or 8x10 in any other film other than Rollei IR? I have not really found others in sheets... Honestly, not really my favorite film to use in comparison to Kodak, Fuji and Ilford, but it is the only IR sensitive film around for sheets, it appears...
It is not a rumor, it is indeed a fact.
When this repackaged stuff was introduced to the market in 2016, it was indeed old, expired leftover stock of long discontinued Aviphot Pan 400. Last coating run of Aviphot Pan 400 at Agfa in Mortsel was already in 2008.
This expired film rests were already detoriated (probably of bad storage at the source bought) and had very high base fog and reduced film speed.
Experienced long-term users of Aviphot Pan 400 (e.g. aerial photographers and traffic surveillance film experts like SPUR in Germany; and film enthusiasts like me and lots of others here on photrio and other film forums, especially in Europe, and facebook photo groups) immediately realized after detailed film tests of Street Pan 400 what this film really was originally.

That, or he is very naive person, and someone told the fairytale to him, that the film was made as fresh stock, only for him, etc. Although, based on the few videos/post that I have read/seen from him, he doesnt strikes me as a naive person.
Since basically everything seems to be Aviphot these days, is it possible to just buy bulk rolls of Aviphot and be done with it?
Furthermore, is there any source of the thin-base Aviphot 40? This would be quite helpful for hand cutting and rolling Minox film, and probably an excellent film for shooting in that tiny format.

there are people here on the forum cutting 4x5 and 8x10 from 9" rolls. I bought a couple of them and cutting them to 4x5 sheets.
Marcelo,
This film’s base thickness is 4 mils (thousandths of an inch), while large format base thickness is 7 mils.
Do you have any problems with film flatness?
Hi, I’m one of the folks cutting down the big rolls! The 4mil (0.1mm) rolls of film are fine for making LF sheets. I have handled it up to 8x10 size and although a bit of extra care needs to be taken when handling then, they’re fine from my experience, and others I talk to that have shot it have said the same. Now, 0.06mm… that is a PITA and should never be cut to sheets.
Thank you so much!
The 0.06mm (2.5 mils) stuff seems to be too thin for mostly everything.
I think I’m gonna get into this bandwagon too, as it’s a very affordable way to shoot large format.

It would be good to make this thread a sticky.
might be good for minox! Plus the idea of slitting 9 inch rolls width-wise down into 23 minox rolls is hilarious.
