Hi All,

I am going to give my Beseler 67S2 one last shot at proper alignment. I am half way there but I am making no headway on the fore/aft lens stage adjustment!

I have a manual for a 67CP that came with the kit but the mechanical drawing for the arm that attaches the lens stage to the focusing mechanism shows much different hardware than I have on the S2 and the neg/lens stages are treated as one single unit.

I am asking if anyone out there in cyberspace has a manual for the S2 and what the paragraph says about aligning the lens stage in the fore and aft axis. There are several screws, shims and possible adjustments incorporated in the side to side adjustment assembly of the lens stage that could be trimmed but it is not immediately obvious what the proper procedure might be and how it is accomplished.

Anyone who has done the lens stage fore/aft adjustment, I would certainly appreciate the help.

It is possible that someone tried to make the adjustment before I purchased the unit and re-assembled the adjustment assembly incorrectly. What I believe are the two adjustment screws on the left side of the backing plate do not make proper contact enabling proper adjustment for pitch/yaw.

I should also add that the negative stage is aligned perfectly fore and aft/side to side and the lens stage aligns easily side to side but the fore and aft lens stage adjustment has me baffled.

TIA

Fred

Edit: Or, perhaps, there is no provision for adjusting the fore/aft position other than shimming?

Hi, I'm not familiar with that particular model, but have seen other beselers. Here are a couple ideas:
1. Shim the lensboard with tape on the front or back edge.
or
2. If the entire head has f/r tilt adjustment, adjust it so the lens rim is parallel to the baseboard, then adjust the neg stage so it is parallel also.

Henry,

Have emailed twice and left messages on the voice mail and contacted the customer service dept. who promised to have the tech call me.

Still waiting.....

Jon,

After carefully examining the unit, I believe, in spite of the appearance an adjustment can be made, the lens stage is like the 23C in that shims must be used to adjust the fore/aft axis. It does not have a tilt adjust like the 23 does.

However, if anyone has the enlarger and has encountered the same problem, please feel free to share your experience.

Thanks to all,

Fred

Connected with Beseler and was able to determine that the unit is a '80 Printmaker and Tech support is going to search the archives for the manual and see if it is adjustable. Later models do have the adjustment but my older model may not. Beseler will contact me on 7/16.
